    Hey SoCr@Te,

This RAR archive seems to be corrupted. I have downloaded and tried to unpack it 3 times, with same results each time. Always seems to get stuck unpacking at "text file 06….". Thanks, though, for all your great posts and info. Cheers, Darrell, USA

Hi, just wanted to know how to handle the different files in the RAR. It says that there is a "tuto windows vi8"in the rom but i cant find it anywhere. Anyway thanks a lot for the rom, I canty seem to find any other for the vi8 plus and mine is showing driver problems, i just wanted a "factory"image to restore to. I now have the image and the vi8 plus, but I have no idea how to restore…I cant even access the "recovery"partition on the hard drive of the vi8 plus (its only 450 mb too…seems a little light for a recovery partition). I would really appreciate it if anyone who knows how to restore the tablet could point me in the right direction. Big thanks in advance! William, Belgium

    Hi all,
@vwwesty: no probs with unpacking. i've used winrar 5.3 64bit. 4.421.852.398 Bytes unpacked.
I have uninstalled my wifi connector in device manager and now I'm not able to restore the wifi drivers.
I tried different stuff from braodcom and realtek, no chance.
Windows reset function brings not back the wifi driver, a factory reset option ist not avaible. No Wifi at the moment;(
I request for proper drivers at chuwi's help desk. an answer is pending.
After delivering the USB-C-Adapter by amazon I will try to flash a new windows 10 like you.
Cant find tuto windows vi8 too.
What i know at his time is that you have to use a usb keyboard and mouse for entering BIOS by hiting ESC key right after the tablet starts.
Then change the boot options / boot priotrity to USB-Drive. I think all drivers are in this rom (hope really)

Im really pleased to discuss with you about our exciting product here in this forum :(
    Best regars

    Hey Everyone,

@abillio: thanks, I did get the ROM unpacked with WinRar 5.3 also. None of the free apps I tried were able to do it. Thankfully, WinRar is free to try for 40 days.

I will be attempting to install the ROM today and will report back.

    Regards, Darrell

So…I tried a lot of things : I do have a usb hub with a mouse, a keyboard and a free port for the usb drive. I can access the BIOS easily, but there is nothing very helpful in there (no recovery option whatsoever). I wanted to apply the Rom available here to the Chuwi Hard drive, so i made an ISO file with the contents of the Rom and made a bootable USB drive from this ISO with Rufus. If i try to boot from that USB, i get the following : "Diskpart has cleaned the drive –Diskpart successfully changed the drive format to GPT". Then i just get this warning "The operation you want to perform is not possible from a removable media". So i guess i cant boot from my USB because it is considered a removable media, thus i cant try to apply the .wim image to the tablet. I tried looking at other ways to apply a .wim image to the C. drive but i have not been successful, it seems to be waaaaaaay over my abilities.

So…basically i want to reset the Chuwi : i Have a fresh WIN 10 install on it, without any Chuwi-specific drivers. I have those drivers and a fresh image in the Rom provided on this site. I am just looking for the right way to apply the Rom downloaded here to the Chuwi. Like replacing my current WIN 10 installation by the one in the Rom. I have to admit I am completely stuck.

If anyone wants to point me in the right direction or has any advice, do not hesitate :-) Thank you all in advance, I will tell you if i find a way to do it.

PS. : Strange that there seems to be a recovery partition on the Chuwi (450 mb), but i find no way to use it or access it. I dont know what it is there for. There should be a way to get back to factory settings on all devices ^^

    Hi guys,

we should be able to boot from usb drive. Look at this user story at techtablets.com

    http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/chuwi-vi8-plus/

Especially regard the UEFI 32-64 conflict in this text.

I'm sampling informations at this moment. There are some requirements I found:

    - UEFI needs a GPT partition table at the stick, NO MBR

    - the partition must be FAT formatted with partition ID EF00

Anyone have used the MS Media Creation tool? Better matching for our task than Rufus?

Unfortunately, my USB-C converter si arrived not yet, cant do anything at the moment.

Here is another tutorial for Windows Pro at Chuwi Vi8 (predecessor). The interesting approach here is the double diver tool to save all drivers from a running windows and apply this drivers to a fresh Windows 10 Pro installation.

I think there are many ways to beat this machine. Dont give up. Together we will make it :(

    Best regards

Just to keep you guys informed of what I've tried : I tried to boot from a USB with the rom from this site. Apparently there is no problem from the conflict between 32/64 UEFI (a file is needed and it is already in the "boot"file from the rom). There doesnt seem to be any way to disable secure boot from either windows or the bios (if you restart via windows while maintining "shift"pushed, you get access to the UEFI options : if you try to access them, it says it's going to restart the computer and show you the UEFI options. When you restart, the bios opens, and there is no option to disable secure boot that I can find.

I tried to boot from the USB anyway, and i get this message exactly (maybe it will help…) :

"Disk 1 is now the selected disk""Diskpart succeeded in cleaning the disk"

"Diskpart succesfully converted the slected disk to GPT format"

"Diskpart succeeded in creating the specified partition"

"Virtual disk system error : the operation is not supported on removable media"

"the system cannot open the device or file specified".

Then the only option is to turn off the tablet.

    I am kinda lost :-(
