DESCRIPTION

I made this rom as I could not find any working rom for my formerly bricked Pulid F13 in the internet (And Pulid itself is of NO help –nonexistant customer support).

This Rom is made and successfully tested with Pulid F13 MTK6589 1.2 Ghz FullHD 5"Display 1GB Ram/8GB Flash.

Devices known where this rom works on:

- Pulid F13 MTK6589 1.2Ghz 1GB Ram/8GB Flash

- Pulid F13 MTK6589T 1.5Ghz 2GB Ram/32GB Flash

- Pulid S4 (exact version unknown –assume all 6589 based versions are working)

- Star One S4 Turbo MTK6589T 1.5GHz 2GB Ram/32GB Flash

I might also work for its siblings like Miz Z4. But this is yet untested!

ATTENTION: You are flashing this rom entirely at your own risk!

Contents:

- Mainly stock Android 4.2.1

- rooted

- Google Apps

- CWM Recovery

- Multilanguage

This is my very first rom so please be gracious to me! :-)

Installation:

Archive contains Rom,USB Drivers and SPFlashtool 3.1316.0.150

1. Unpack the archive using 7zip

2. If not already done: Install USB Drivers.

3. Switch off phone and remove battery and ALL cards.

4. Connect usb cable to phone but not computer

5. Start SP Flashtool (Flash_tool.exe) as ADMINISTRATOR!

6. Load scatter file from rom folder: MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt

7. Press "Download"button.

8. Connect phone to computer

9. Wait for download to finish (green circle window at the end).

10. Unplug phone

11. Insert battery and start phone

12. Process setup wizard.

13. Go to "Settings"->"Storage"->Scroll down and press "Erase phone storage"->Confirm this

(If you don't do this your phone might hang on first reboot and you will need to reflash!)

14. Reboot phone

15. Done

:-)

Have fun!

Roland

It would be nice –if you flash this rom –if you would leave a comment here on which phone you have flashed it (retail name, cpu frequency, ram size and flash size). Thank you very much.

      Hi…

Yes…They are working. I am using wifi all day –when I am at home. I always have a stable connection.

GPS reception is a bit poor but this is reasoned by the small hardware antenna and not software problem,

      Hi Roontje..

I was desperate about my bricked F13 and the inability of Pulid and the shop I have bought it to organize a rom so I had to digg into android internals and created my own one.

(I believe we know us from another forum…. ;-) )

Thanks for the feedback. Will adjust introductional text for the rom that it works with the 1.5Ghz/2GB/32GB phone as well!

      Glad that I could help,

      Roland

    Hey Roland

Yes, you're right. I was in the same position. Also really disapointed in Pulid.

I'm really thankfull with your help (I allready ordered an other phone)

Are you planning to make other roms for the Pulid?

    Anyway, good job!!

      Because of other roms:

Maybe…As this phone is my only and mainphone and this is a lot of work I think about it when I can find roms for Android 4.3/4.4 for other MTK65xx phones. I spent about 40 hours doing this rom (and thus debricking my Pulid F13).

today I noticed that the wifi is not that good. Unless I stay at max 3m in range of the router. Otherwise it has connection but no data. Do you face the same problem?

I do not notice this up to now. I even do have reception and can read my mails when I am in the garden (~10meters away and thru a wall). But: The anntennas of my phone are all very small. Reception changes already if I turn the phone by some degrees. I could notice this already with the stock rom.

For wifi my rom uses the stock drivers from Pulid. Will do more tests on this –but this can take a bit as I will be offline as of tomorrow for one week.

      Hi everyone,

I was installed few months ago stock firmware with Build number S4 20130604-182644. I see that you are using the same one. Can you explain what you customized in it?
For me that one solved problems with unstable WiFi but still I have issue that Google sync is stop forking after day or two, so I need to restart the phone. Also I was noticed that I’m getting low disk space warning.
I find out that something is making enormous log files in /data/log_other_mode so I need occasionally to erase all those files except properties file which is not growing.

If all of you will be so nice to check if you have these log files it would be great.

also I noticed that the led notification is gone. Not that it's such a great issue, but I liked it before. Don't know if this is easy to fix. Any way, I'm happy that I've a working phone now…

      Hi Frances…

Sorry for the late reply. I had been offline for the last week.

I see several reasons what could have gone wrong:

      - Is the driver correctly installed. When you plugin your phone without battery to your pc via usb.

When you open Windows devicemanger in the com port sections. Do you see there a "MTK COM PORT"or something similar?

If not your driverinstallation was not succesful! You first must make sure that the driver is correctly installed.

      - Before clicking the "Download"Button in step 7 make sure that your phone is NOT connected. Only connect it AFTER clicking download.

how do I come in to the recovery??

To boot into recovery you can use RomManager or Mobile uncle tools. Yet I haven't managed to come to there using Vol+ and powerbutton.

Regarding Wifi: I can't complain. Stable and fast over here.

Regarding GPS: It is poor you are right. This is reasoned by the small antenna of the phone. This can be improved by soldering an own antenna. There are a couple of points if you google for "mtk gps antenna"or look on youtube

I write from Italy for a problem with my gps smartphone, asking for help to the most experienced of the web site. I purchased from a dealer of Chinese aliexpress a Pulid F13, 2gb ram, 32gb rom, mtk6589T 1.5 ghz, display (1920×1080) I’m in difficulty in solving a problem with the GPS PULID F13 just received, the problem is in the process of engagement signal that does not start immediately, but the strangeness of the situation is that the navigator started looking for the signal and can not find it, it goes into standby mode, the display goes dark, and that after a few seconds I hear the voice of the guide that tells me the locked signal, then display active, I go to the browser and after a few moments I lose the signal, then I found that every time the display turns off the GPS signal is resumed. Does anyone have any idea how to solve the dilemma of this strange smartphone? I tried all the fixes also possible by replacing the file gps.conf in direrctory System / etc, but I also disabled gradually the whole wifi, data, and put into airplane mode, but nothing nothing usually result display on screen and active after a little lost gps …Possible that there is an interference between the display and the GPS signal?

    Thank you for your help.
