Excellent, this one does actually get TWRP 3.0.2 installed (via adb on linux) unlike all of the other versions I've tried that are supposedly for the DOOGEE X5 Max)

    ./adb reboot bootloader
    ./fastboot oem unlock
    ./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    ./fastboot reboot

Hmm, onn 2nd thoughts although it gets me into twrp, it needs more work, it would not boot into the phone OS, just kept rebooting into recovery
Had to restore the stock recovery image

everything works fine …ustanovalivat need through the program "sp flashtool"..
If you set the factory firmware ( "SP Flashtool") after installation "TWRP", it will return the factory recovery

After a bit more time, it looks as though the reboot cycle was caused by being unable to mount the /data partition.

So with the X5 Max booted into Recovery mode via Volume Up , I could connect via ./adb shell

looking at /etc/fstab I could see what block device /data was supposed to be mounted on, so I used (in adb shell)

make_ext4s to format the data partition and mount it

Then I used the twrp to install alexrogozhin's "Clean Mod (SP FlashTool)"ROM by putting it on my SDCard and using this TWRP to Install it.

So, it's possible to do all this via ADB (and linux) without using Windows or SP Flash Tool

Just going to do some tests with the ROM and see if everything works, but it's looking good for the moment

PS I don't have a computer with Windows, I wanted to see if this could all be done via adb on linux.

SP Flashtool available for installation on Linux (I use it for phone firmware installing).
