Tutorial MT657x flashing

Make sure that you read everything carefully and know what you are doing. Don't blame me for any damage that may occur on your phone.

SP Flash Tool is backward compatible, which means you can (and should) use the most up to date version.

 

What's needed:

- USB data cable

- MediaTek USB VCOM drivers

- SP Flash Tool (v3.1206.01 or higher for MT6575 / v3.1222.00 or higher for MT6577)

- The Right ROM File from your phone vendor

The tutorial:

- First install SP_Drivers_vx.xxxx.rar for Android

- After, make sure that you have MediaTek DA USB VCOM drivers installed.

- Then in order to flash when you plug in your phone to PC in power off state….you

see a message on your PC, Looking for Drivers “MediaTek MT65xx Preloader”

- Just go to device manager when you see that message….say install drivers manually

and give path to usb2ser_Win7.inf (or other OS)  to install the driver.

Flashing the whole ROM

First of all open

SP Flash Tool, then click Scatter-loading button to load the correct scatter

file (MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt or MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt, depending on

which phone you have) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.

Turn off your phone, remove the battery and replace it after some seconds (and don't turn on the phone).

No need for any Fastboot mode, just plug in your phone to PC with USB cable in powered off state for next step

Press F9 (or hit Download button) and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable. The process will start and a red progress bar will appear.

(You might actually see “Looking for MediaTek MT65xx Preloader” drivers at this step as well…just follow the same step as before to install the VCOM drivers and the flashing process will start)

After the red progress bar is complete, there will appear a purple progress bar.

Right after the purple progress bar is complete, a message will appear underneath it: “

Please insert USB cable in x seconds” and then the download will start right away (you will see the yellow progress bar filling up).

When the yellow bar is complete, you'll get a popup with a green circle and

Download OK message, which means that the process has been successfully terminated.

You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on. The process ends here.

 

Flashing only part with Recovery.img

  • In case you want to flash just one part of the ROM, that is also possible. In the shown example, only recovery image will be flashed. Deselect all parts except the one(s) you want to flash and then press F9 (or hit Download button

 

  • The tool will immediately show a warning because not all parts are selected, but you should continue anyway. Safely press Yes to continue.

 

The download of the chosen partition image will start and after the yellow bar is complete, the popup with the green circle should appear.

 

 

 

 

Note that, even though it isn't mandatory to select it on the list of images to flash, preloader file must be present in the same folder as the other partition(s) that you want to flash, or else phone will not be able to enter into download mode.

    Thank you very nice guide, but if you are on windows 8 like me you cannot install MediaTek DA USB VCOM driver because does not contain digital signature information and you should do this

    How to install a driver that does not contain digital signature information in Windows 8?

    Turn off the check

    Hold the shift key while clicking on Restart

    Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart

     

    After Restart select option 7.

    I've got an android N9588 MT6577 1Gb phone.

    let me confess, i'm a noobie on these phones… i've flashed dozens of times myt hd2 but this one only has 2 weeks lolol and I'm not familiar with the process.

    My main interest on flashing the rom is to resolve some issues i'm having with the gps (doesn't lock the satelites) and wifi connections (when it loses a connection the wifi settings pane hangs and I have to reboot the phone for the wifi to work properly). So I'm looking for a rom that can resolve these issues and also understand the flashing process. on the link you posted I see download links for: Recovery, Root and Flash tool. however the instructions are not very clear on the use of the 3.

    Could you please help me?…

    Hi I've done all of this and the green circle came up for complete, used the files from THL website and eveything. When I reboot the phone it still hangs at the splash screen. Any suggestions please??

    Its black, dual sim, 1ghz 6575, IMEI starts with 3526. I got the phone to work, then turned the phone off to insert sim card, now the phone doesnt turn on at all :/. please help?

    The phone still runs through SP flash tool, but doesnt even load up recovery mode

    Thank you for sharing. I'm kinda confused as to the specific model for TECNO T1: is it MTK6575 or MTK6577? I only see MTK 65xx whenever I connect it to the pc.

    yeah my mt65xx drivers was not installed after installing/updating from drive i selected mobile cynus t2 under program files and said encounted a problem and cant update drivers so i downloaded MT65xx drivers from xda site and browsed and drivers got installed named is preloade usb vcom(android) Com 4. i used sp flash tools selected scatter file n recovery pressed download

    red bar completes 100% and showing enter usb in 15 sec after that i get an error helpp………….

    error 8100 cant find usb port

    what should i do know.

    Is SPFT the only way to flash unrooted MTK device?  Is there any way to do the same jobs with command lines via shell access or something similar without using SPFT?

    Hey socr@te, do you have an alternative flashing solution using the cmd command prompt for lenovo P770? I'm a little confused on the tutorial and even have to remove the battery. I already downloaded the P770_ydss_liuliang_s10 rom just trying to figure out how should i flash it. Thanks!

    Hey SoCr@Te, I have a Jiayu G3 and a Lenovo P770.

    I rooted my jiayu by a Bin4ry and installed recovery using mobile uncle, so I had no need to use SPFlashtool and always I want to flash another rom I do it through recovery. I tried to root the Lenovo by Bin4ry and do the same operation I did with the Jiayu, but I cannot get it rooted. Is this (SPflashtool) the only way to flash a room or get the phone rooted for Lenovo P770? And what about the factory recovery? Maybe is it possible to flash a root zip through it?

    Hi every one, i am not sure if this the right place for my problem , any way i have an S3 MT6575 i think i flashed it with mt6577 , and as you guessed full brick down , i tried to flash it with another rom using SP tool every time i get the same message "SP FLASH TOOL ERROR : (5054)" help i used too many ROM and with the same result please help.

    why should i update to 4.2 android?  I have the inew2000 and tmobile.  does anyone know if i can get 3g on this phone?  i get edge and after several several speed test I only get 200kbps.  once when i was driving it actually said "tmobile 3g" but then said failed to connect.  thanks in advance for any answers.

    Help needed please: I'm using windows 8, and i'm trying to flash a rom for newman N1.

    The phone was purchased from etotalk, and they also supplied a new rom with instructions how to flash.

    I've tried anything, nothing worked so far, and I've no idea what to do next…. thanks in advance

    I use win xp. When i connect the phone N9589, 1 sec in device manager shows "MediaTek MT65xx Preloader" driver, and then disappears. Not in ports. Why not installed? Thanks!
