DESCRIPTION

RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE INSTALLING UPDATE, PREPARATION OF BACKUP DATA COPY (BACKUP)

1. Always update the device firmware with a sufficient battery charge (at least 20%)!

2. Firmware update is recommended (not required) with the “Clear Data” checkbox selected to avoid program errors during the subsequent operation of the smartphone after the update!

Note: "Clear Data" data cleansing involves deleting current settings, phone book entries, messages, notes, mail accounts, as well as installed third-party software. This does not affect data such as music, video, photos and other files stored in the memory of the smartphone. Please take care in advance to create backup copies of the necessary information.

MAKE A BACKUP OF DATA (BACKUP ) is possible from the settings of the MEIZU smartphone. To do this, go to the Settings menu of your smartphone, then About phone – Memory – Backup. Press the big BACKUP button and select the data you need to save. In order to save your backup to Computer, in the File Manager of the smartphone, find the Backup folder, and save its contents completely. More detailed step by step  instructions can be found here . You can restore the backup in the same section of the Settings, even on a different model of the MEIZU smartphone!

3. Downgrading the firmware version (rolling back to an earlier one) MUST be done with data clearing ("Clear Data").

4. If, before updating, a ROOT access was received on the smartphone, then the firmware update must include the “Clear data” option. Otherwise, you may receive application error messages and other system errors after the update. If you did not open ROOT access in your smartphone, do not consider this item.

5. If, as a result of the firmware update, emergency shutdowns of programs and other errors are observed, it is recommended to perform the firmware update again with the obligatory marking of the “Clear Data” option.

6. If after flashing the device cyclically reboots or error messages appear on individual applications (force close), try to reflash the smartphone again or reset the data (in the flashing window, select the item “Clear data”)

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS UPDATE

IMPORTANT! IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING THE SMARTPHONE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN OFF OR RELOAD THE DEVICE! WAIT FOR THE COMPLETE COMPLETION OF THE UPDATE PROCESS!

A reboot is allowed only after the completion of the smartphone update process, during the first loading of the device, with "APPLICATION OPTIMIZATION", if the optimization is frozen in one place for 5 minutes or more.

OPTION 1 (traditional)

1. Download the update.zip firmware file to the phone (to the root partition) using a computer or directly from the site to the smartphone itself. If in the root partition there is already an update.zip file with the previous firmware version – first remove it and download the file with the new firmware.

2. Open the "Explorer" application on the smartphone's desktop, select the "Local files" item to see the list of folders (in FLYME 4 and below – this item is not present, the list of folders is displayed immediately).

3. Scroll down the list of folders and files, and click on the update.zip firmware file located there (run as a normal application, you do NOT need to unzip the file)

4. Check in the dialog box, if necessary, the "Clear Data" option, see the Recommendations for details above for details, then click the "OK" button.

5. Wait until the end of the firmware process – the phone will reboot automatically.

6. After the update, if necessary, activate GOOGLE PLAY services on your smartphone using the HOT APPS application and GOOGLE INSTALLER icons inside it. Detailed instructions:  Installing Google Play on MEIZU smartphones

OPTION 2 (emergency and alternative).

Download the update.zip firmware file to the phone (in the root partition) using a computer or directly from the site on the smartphone itself. If in the root partition there is already an update.zip file with the previous firmware version – first remove it and download the file with the new firmware.

2. Turn off the phone by long pressing the power button of the smartphone.

3. When turned on, hold down the "Turn on" and "Volume up" buttons simultaneously, without releasing, until the MEIZU logo appears.

4. In the downloaded firmware upgrade window, check the "System Upgrade" option and, if necessary, the "Clear Data" option, then click the "Start" button on the screen.
