I have formatted an SD card fat32. Copied

    Lenovo_A766_by_iTIGERya.zip and

to the root of the SD card. If I hold both volume up and down buttons turn on device, I get Android System Recovery <3e>. This doesn't appear to be the CWM recovery. I try to install the ZIP but it aborts. The new ROM doesn't install.

If I hold volume up, I get a Factory mode banner then a blue chinese menu on a black background. If I use google translate, it appears to say:

    Sensor Calibration

    Automatic test

    Frequency test

    Test Report

    Commissioning test items

    Clear MMC

    Version information

    IB phone

I think I am following the instructions. Am I missing something?

After installing ROM, no simcard can be recognised in either slot.

I tried the other ROMs on the site. Same effect. I don't know how to make the device usable as a mobile phone again.

Hello! You need to restore IMEI. It happens that it is erased when flashing, try to start the phone via Flashtool flash ROM on S117.
IMEI first SIM card under the battery, and add the six obtain IMEI for the second SIM card. How to restore IMEI on the network a lot of information. Good luck!

Thank you, tiger. You are a phone saver. i will try now.

The last digit of the IMEI is a check digit, so I calculated the next IMEI using this:

So my last digits chanegd from 50364 to 50372

Is there a way to flash these ROMS without having to re-program IMEI each time?

I have tried various methods to set an IMEI number, but they have failed. I spent 5 hours today but with no result.

I don't have /dev/pttycmd1  available. I suspect this means the baseband firmware isn't loading, so no baseband is available. I don't know for sure.

I don't have the original stock firmware,

How does the baseband circuit initialise? How can I put back what is needed for it to initialise again?

iTigerya, Thanks. That restored the phone to fully working.

I have another MTK6589 based phone with a User Interface (Android with Google Apps, dialer, default desktop etc) that I would like to put on the Lenovo. Is there an easy way to do that?

Is the Android user interface stuff on the file system well separated from the drivers, baseband initialisation etc?
