Install ROM:
 V2 and up

Download desired zip and copy on sdcard.

You need a modified recovery to install the firmware and updates. If you have it already, proceed to step 3. If you don't have, follow these steps:

1. Download Lenovo drivers, unzip the archive. Turn off the phone and remove battery. Open device manager and connect the phone to PC. Watch for new devices. It will be displayed as МТ65хх Preloader. You need to be quick, because it will dissapear in some second. Click on it with the right button and select update driver. Point the wizard to the driver folder, it will install the correct driver automatically.
If it doesn't work with removed battery you can try to power on the phone and turn on developer options in settings or enter meta mode – hold Volume Down and Power buttons. Then connect the phone to PC again.
2. Download and extract Recovery zip and Flash tools. Run Flash Tools, click on DL DA All With Check Sum, load the scatter file located in Recovery folder, uncheck Preloader and hit Download (F6). Remove battery from phone and connect it to PC. When done, a green circle will appear.
3. Enter recovery mode – hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until you see the logo. Make a backup of your current system first. Install new zip.

※Please make a backup of your device before installing or updating ROM

First time on here and I followed the above and made sure to Check DA DL All with checksum before flashing but phone now after starting just shows black screen with faint lines. What could this be due to? I have a complete copy of the old disc is there a way to restore and what could I have done wrong?

First of all check the usb cable. Did the flashing process completed sucessfully with a green circle?

If yes, then load the rom in flashtool and flash again. Make sure all files are marked for uploading to the phone. Click Firmware-Upgrade or Download – it should be the same in this case.

When flash is complete disconenct the usb cable and put the battery in the phone. Make sure it is not completely discharged, otherwise the phone won't boot before it is charged enough to power up the phone.

I suppose your' flashing the first version of the ROM? The second one is for installing through advanced recovery.

btw, how did you create the image of the old system?

If nothing works, you can flash a stock ROM + advanced recovery and restore the backup.

Hi Infrared… same big big big issue here…

I've flashed V1 and the process completed with a green circle. I've tried also "Firmware Upgrade" instead of Download but when I turb on the phon I can see only strange lines on the screen..

How can I do? I hope there is a solution

Quick update: I've successfully flashed the original Lenovo stock rom. Now I have back the phone with me… I notice just some strange lines "behind" the theme. It feels like the screen has been damaged.. is it possible?! Now I have to find how to root the phone and install again a nicer ad usable rom (in europe)

I found it. There is "original" version with multilang (prob modded). It can be found on the web. There are a few Chinese apps.

How to remove this annoying start screen with unnecessary shortcuts e.g. LenovoService, sync?

And these round icons are annoying too…

      My opinion about 2.1:

      1. I didn't found the Stock Browser. Where is it?
      2. Names of sounds/alerts/notifacations are chinese.
      3. Rounded icons are ugly. Can you change the theme or these icons?
      4. Start screen has unnecessary shorcuts.
      5. Waiting for polish language ;)

The look and feel is the stock lenovo, everyone can make changes on their own. Round icons and theme are the stock lenovo ones.

The lotus on the start screen can be removed like every widget – hold your finger on the widget, you will get an indication when it's ready to be removed, then drag to the top ogf the screen where it says "remove".

Stock browser should have been there, but maybe I made a mistake during the countless trial and errors.

Regarding the language support – don't expect too much. In order to have a perfect support a lot of people should contribute and translate all english string to their language.

You need to understand that I can't fulfill every little request, moreover every person wants different things. My idea is to optimize the original rom, remove bloatware, root, gapps and so on. Everyone can work their way from there – change default launcher, change themes, remove even more applications (I do it for myelf), etc.

Thank you for your great work. I will wait for new firmware with stock browser and maybe english names of sounds ;)

I asked how to make changes permanently:)

How do you mod your rom? Android Kitchen? only?

I have the multilanguage rom and yes: not all is translated…

how to make backup orginal Recovery and orginal ROM? Could you help me? Do I have to install CWM?

    • 04/06/2013

You can dump the whole ROM with FlashTool, but it requires some fiddling with hex values for the start addres and length of the different blocks.

Otherwise you can flash advanced recovery and make a full backup, then copy it from the sdcard to a pc, just in case.
