Install ROM:
 V2 and up

Download desired zip and copy on sdcard.

You need a modified recovery to install the firmware and updates. If you have it already, proceed to step 3. If you don't have, follow these steps:

1. Download Lenovo drivers, unzip the archive. Turn off the phone and remove battery. Open device manager and connect the phone to PC. Watch for new devices. It will be displayed as МТ65хх Preloader. You need to be quick, because it will dissapear in some second. Click on it with the right button and select update driver. Point the wizard to the driver folder, it will install the correct driver automatically.
If it doesn't work with removed battery you can try to power on the phone and turn on developer options in settings or enter meta mode – hold Volume Down and Power buttons. Then connect the phone to PC again.
2. Download and extract Recovery zip and Flash tools. Run Flash Tools, click on DL DA All With Check Sum, load the scatter file located in Recovery folder, uncheck Preloader and hit Download (F6). Remove battery from phone and connect it to PC. When done, a green circle will appear.
3. Enter recovery mode – hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until you see the logo. Make a backup of your current system first. Install new zip.

The ROM keeps getting better and better! Thanx very much for your input!! It is highly appreciated….

If I may ask, could you look into a problem I´m facing with widgetsoid. I use it to reboot the phone, usually, but just this doesn´t work on your ROM. SU says that superuser rights were granted, but nothing happens. No reboot what so ever….

I make the same question, can you install directly v2.2 without flashing previous versions if you already have a recovery manager installed?

And what wipes are necessary to do before flashing? full wipe? only dalvik and cache?

Thank you so much for your hard work infrared.

No, all versions are independent. Updater script wipes system and data, so make sure you have a full backup from which you can restore apps and data with nandroid manager.

For the update to work all you need is advanced recovery. You can flash over a stock rom. It doesn't hurt if you do full factory reset, but it's not needed. Kernel and boot image are patched for permanent root.

In order to fulfill as much requests as possible, current rome is close to stock one – I left many applications, which I remove for myself.

Tried to decompile the stock launcher yesterday, but without sucees. Thaht's why there's the ugly lotus and missing widgets on first launch, that's why I didn't change icons, too.

Now, when A830 is out, I will try to update JB to 4.2.1, however a direct flash with A830 rom didin't work.

    One question:

If I install this rom the data will be lost? programs, configuration, etc.?

    infrared, only one thing.

If I use your CWM the program is lost in the first boot. I use TWRP for this problem.

If you can fix this would be ok!

    thank you again!

You can use TWRP – no problem.

When you flash my CWM on a stock rom, don't boot the phone normally, but boot directly into CWM recovery and install the ROM zip.

There's a recovery-from-boot patch file in S138 firmware, which restores the stock recovery after first boot. There are various ways to fix this – you can even manually delete it if you root the phone. It's in the system folder. Anyway, the update script wipes system partition, so after the install the file is gone.

Does anyone know of a way to deal with the chinese characters that appear between Contacts and Dialler, which seem to relate to the Chinese-Only feature of location identification from phone numbers?

It's only a minor annoyance, but present nonetheless even using replacement 3rd party diallers.

Yes, it's annoying. I'm addressing this issue, as well the phone not able to identify callerId if you don't have the phone number stored with the country code.
