I decided to be the guinea pig for this, since no one else had rated or commented, and the malware patch didn't remove all of the adware from the stock ROM on my X5 Max Pro. So far, everything seems to work well. After I got it up and running, the only issue that I noticed was that I kept getting random notifications that the Browser app had crashed, when I wasn't even running it. That isn't an issue for me since I use Firefox anyway, so I just disabled Browser. The phone functions fine, the camera is fine, and I was able to use all of my preferred default apps for features. AnTuTu is 27952, which is about the same as the stock ROM gave me, and it threw in the ads and unauthorized apps for free.

I also got this to work.  However, I'd like to see if the original builder can give some tips on building LineageOS for this device.  It would be nice to have an official port.

I get the following error message when trying to install from twrp x32: "Updater process ended with ERROR: 7"

In TWRP, select Wipe, Advanced Wipe, tick: Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Cache, and Data, then Swipe to Wipe. Return to the main menu when complete and try Install again. Should complete without error.

Startup options are default Russian, but then you (well, I, and perhaps you) can also select Engish (UK) or English (United States…some strange foreign dialect that no English speaking person can hope to understand). After initialisation, from settings, you can add Spanish language (among many others). It seems most menu text is still English with some Spanish additions. If you are multi-lingual (English / Spanish) you should be OK. But if you're hoping for Español en todas partes, then this is not the ROM for you.

      Hope that helps.

Working ok on X5 Max Pro, unlocked and installed TWRP via adb and fastboot from OSX, and then wipe and install of lineageOS from within TWRP. Thanks.

This ROM worked great for a few hours, then it slowed to a crawl. Anyone else have this issue? If so, are there any solutions? Because this is a great ROM otherwise.

Hey quash, it might be google play services. I found it running a little sluggish but left the phone charging overnight and it was smooth again by morning. It runs like hot butter if you completely de-google it and install microG –worth the effort in my opinion but depends how google dependent you are.

For me this custom rom works very well. It is not fully translated that means sometimes i see english and/or russian text instead of my language but so far it works much better than the original android 6.x especially the battery drainage is gone and of course the malware except for a forced survey report that i can't disable. I had to install supersu to get root and remove "telegram"which was preinstalled as system app.

Also sometimes i see the error message browser crashed even though i removed it aswell with telegram. I have firefox and chrome as alternative.

Brunzel, I found it helps to flash the LineageOS SU addon from their site: https://download.lineageos.org/extras (su arm in our case, not arm64). You can then set root access in developer options which allows the CM file manager to access root. Get system app remover (root) from the play store to get rid of the stock browser, survey, telegram etc. Also, Magisk (and MagiskSU) works really well rather than SuperSU, and includes built in root hide.
