How to install the ROM

You have to use my Unoffical TWRP 3.6.1 Recovery to flash your device later. The file in the attachment is zipped and valid for the TWRP Recovery (don't extract the rom zip!)
Please backup NVRAM and IMEI with TWRP BEFORE flash! If you lose your MAC / IMEI after flash, you can restore it in 2 seconds!

First time installing the ROM
Boot into TWRP -> delete Dalvik, Cache, System and Data -> Install the ROM ZIP -> Install GAPPS -> Restart your phone -> thats it!

Upgrade from earlier version
Boot into TWRP -> delete Dalvik, Cache, System -> Install the ROM ZIP -> Install GAPPS -> Restart your phone -> thats it!

Update to newer version with patch
Boot into TWRP -> Install Patch ZIP -> delete Dalvik, Cache-> Restart your phone -> thats it!

Bugs and how you can fix it

- to reduce flickering on apps (only few have this issue), go to: settings -> developer options -> animation duration scale -> animation off

- Video recording inverted color (workarround: any third party camera)

Amazing Work! Cubot should hire this guy! A hundred times better then the official ROM.

Added now themes (OMS) on latest LineageOS14.1 with 2018-11-05 updates

You can grab for Substratum Themes in Play Store or look for some apks on other themes site.

after intall the apk, you can go into the Substratum-app to apply the theme

Could test it on my Cubot Note S.. but im currently on cubot note plus and work for LineageOS14.1

  Unfortunately not. Rainbow uses 3.18.19 kernel and Rainbow 2 kernel 3.18.35. they're both different and you can't boot up the ROM. I have no mt6580 device with 3.18.35 (stock nougat), so I can't compile ROMs for these devices

Version 20200512 has some tweaks with power profiles. I guess almost no one configure power profiles on the device and has always the "balanced"-profile by default. So i optimize the "balanced" profile now. The new one goes up to 1208MHz instead of only 1100MHz. You'll get a bit more performance. Highest value up to 1300Mhz has now the power profile "Quick". "Performance"-Profile has now always boost with 1300MHz locked.

Power save: 600Mhz – 750MHz
Efficiency: 750MHz – 900MHz
Balanced: 750MHz - 1200MHz
Quick: 900MHz – 1300MHz
Performance: 1300MHz

New version 2020-06-13 for Cubot Rainbow has new kernel active. Updated kernel and latest security patches.
(you can see the new kernel on "about phone" in settings)
