I have this ROM and I am reverting to KitKat. This ROM has many problems: These are the most serious:

    1) It is not compatible with many apps, for example Google+, YouTube and many others

    2) It is extremenly slow, it can not be compared to KitKat ta all

    3) Battery life is very bad. It won't last more then one day.

And this ROM is not 5.1, it is 5.0.

      It is a great Rom:

      1) It is compatible with Google+, YouTube. verified it

      2) It is a bit slow in compare to KK

      3) Battery life is great …..2-3 days

      4) Rom is 5.0  and not Android 5.1.x R25

Since i downloaded and use this ROM, my phone shuts off several times a day and reboots. It does it when i touch the screen sometimes to make a call or look something up on google. It is getting annoying. I think i will switch back to KitKat

Works fine. The small partition was the limiting factor for this phone now I can keep it a little longer for it's toughness. Format the phone before the update and it shold be fine. I had to re-enter the IMEIs after the update but that was not an issue. This update also fixes one annoying issue from R14 which is whenever the phone restarted some of the icons would disappear from the home screen.

Start SP flash tool (assuming MTK driver already installed). Load scatter file set to Format and download and start the download. Connect phone and wait for format and flash to complete. Phone hung on first startup I had to remove the battery and restart again.

I installed the update with the provided tool but after reboot, the screen is totally fucked up, the image goes from up to down very fast, leaving the phone unusable.

So, It looks I selected the wrong file for updating, I selected an update folder from the doogee.cc web. With this one it works okay.

At the 1st boot it takes a quite long time until pin prompt, maybe 15 min or so.

The partitions are removed and now there is only one partition for all, so as bajanman says the main problem of this phone is solved.

I will update after some days of using this version.

After more than a month with this update, everything has been working fine, so I'd recommend it.
