thanks for this rom.  question: has anyone been able to gain root access to this model tablet(RCT6303W87M7)?  if so, what method was used?

    thanks.

Hello, I tried using the FlashTool and selected the correct scatter for the updated firmware version but the USB connection could not be made. I've used 3 different USB to MicroUSB cables with no success. Any tips? I read somewhere that RCA sells a special USB cable for $20 that will allow USB connections to the tablet. Has anyone gotten one of these cables to work with the FlashTool?

    Thanks all,

    Roger

Hello, A friend handed me this RCA Viking Pro Tablet. After power up(RCA branding with dogs) and past the the "Viking Pro" logo flashing at you for a minute-ish, all it does is show a wallpaper with no icons and goes to black and then shows wallpaper and will continue this cycle until it drops to "inactive/rest" mode – it never gets to a home screen. Personal Data wasn't an issue. went into recovey – wiped cache – the wiped data- reset factory default. Upon startup we get by the first 2 issue sequences(RCA & Viking Pro) and then actually get to a working setup screen, asking for wifi info and then suggesting it was a "Reset" and wants the originall "email address or phone number associated to the previous synced account.

I thought maybe, reflash the firmware to bring it to factory default might help to bypass the synced account issue. In Recovery screen i do see this device listed as RCT6303W87M7-Android6.0-V19-V2.15.20 which seems to be far different numbers than listed above for this same modle RCT6303W87M7.

Aside from that i downloaded and unpacked the "RCT6303W87M7-ANDROID6.0-V09-V1.22.50-M09_20171017" file listed above, i also downloaded and unpacked the"SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1744.00.000" for Windows and while the application takes the files fine, it never communicates with the tablet it seems, no error messages appear to say anything is or isn't working – but nothing happenedns at, no app response to say there is progress with the device at all. I tried to working usb cables that communicate just fine between my PC and my Samsung Galaxy A5 phone just purchased last week as well as my LG 3 phone that is 2-3 years old, in both USB2 and USB 3 ports on my PC. So i know my cables and PC are fine, but when i connect the same usb cables to the RCA tablet and connect to the PC – Windows gives an error message . . .

"USB device not recognized - The last USB device connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

I have watched several Youtube videos about bypassing the synced google account, the options that are shown to be used don't make themselves available at any point this tablet can currently functionally navigate to as if there have been significan't security patches made to this version of android currently installed.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome. i would love to figure this out so my friend can get back to using his tablet.
