I can confirm this works! Great way to get TWRP on the Cubot X9. I used 'Clockwork Recovery automade 5x' prior to this and had issues. So far, everything looks good with TWRP.

    Some notes:

    For the drivers:

Install the MTK 65x preloader driver as bovirus states.

Turn your phone *off* and then connect it to an internet-enabled Windows computer, that is set to auto update drivers, by USB cable. For me, Windows wouldn't install the right driver without doing this

    For the flashing procedure:

Download Smart Phone Flash Tool from (I got mine from androidmtk.com)

Follow the instructions provided by bovirus. Note bovirus' comment: " Only NOW connect the phone via USB cable and wait until process will finish (green tick)." – otherwise it won't work. No big issue if you get this wrong, just unplug the cable, click download and connect it again."

The process took about 10 seconds, once I pressed download.

Installed SuperSU root with no issues at all.

Works perfectly – Just did a full Nandroid backup and restore and everything works perfectly.

I was a bit worried because there were no reviews or comments but once I found the drivers and the flashtool, it was a piece of cake. Huge credit bovirus!
