DESCRIPTION
I ported to REDMI 1 Mediatek this ROM based AOSP kitkat 4.4.2
I added languages missing, correct some bugs and modified to fit the REDMI 1
Note: – The runtime ART increases permormance so visible, however, some applications may not work. – Xposed is not compatible with ART, we must use Dalvik.

Installation:
- Install TWRP Recovery 2.8.4.0 fully compatible with kitkat ( should also work version 2.5.0)
download from here http://soft.miui.su/recovery/redmi/TWRP-2.8.4.0_by_bucefal82.zip
- Download the file of ROM and copy it to the memory card
- Entering recovery TWRP
- Wipe factory reset – Install the ROM and reboot

Installed this rom but it’s unusable as is giving com.android.phone pop up error every 5 seconds.

I confirm that the rom works great. Its indeed very nice.
I found the solution for the com.phone.android has stopped issue, that was poping up every 5 seconds immediatly after first boot making the rom unusable. Its just a matter of going to Settings > Date & Time and untick/deselect the second option that in portuguese is Fuso Horário Automático, i think in english its its Automatic Time Zone. Thats it!
Been using it for the past 2 days and its the first time for many years I consider leaving MIUI for good.
THe only downside is the battery. It literally flies away. With wi-fi on bye bye.
Since 08:00 this morning, I have made 2 phone calls, and connected wi-fi only to check the emails while having breakfast. Its not even 10:00 and its already on 66% battery. Its consuming a lot, so this is an issue.

Just to let you know that phone is off with battery completly depleted.
So, since 08:00 up to few minutes ago (aprox 15:40) 100% battery is gone….. uau that's a lot and not very good if we need the phone as as working instrument
Wow, that's disappointing. You could try using wakelock detector to see if some app misbehaes and wakes the processor a lot. Also, greenify is a good tool for hibernating unused apps.
Wakelock just saved my life. Thanks for sharing. I had installed an app to have the Volume rocker wake feature (Power button to volume button) and was draining the battery.
I installed it and now phone looks like it’s holding battery very well.
This rom is indeed very nice and the port of Xperia Z3 V4 is also good
BTW android version is 4.4.2 and not 4.4.3
