No, compass still doesn't work here.
But I was pleased to discover such a good ROM. I usually prefer stock ROMs and I was happy with the stock one on this phone, except not working compass and freezes/reboots while using 3G internet.
This ROM is based on the latest stock (20130626), has a different launcher (Nova?), runs very smoothly, has a lot of free RAM (500+ against 350 in stock ROM), has many useful modifications and settings. But the issues of the original ROM are still there. I mean freezes/reboots and lack of compass. Would be an absolute hit without these problems.
Forgot to mention… Antutu4 score is 13024 with this ROM, which is good for this CPU and screen resolution. Stock ROM shows something like 12600-12800.

to have a working compass with this ROM (and also with rom based on stock rom 0626) simply add the missing file /data/misc/sensors/accel_nvm
write the file with a text editor, ie. you can use RootExplorer on the phone.
enter the following text inside the file:

this is the default value present in rom stock 0626.
is my opinion that a lot of people have not working compass because the seller have execute a wipe data before send the phone to custmer, maybe after a phone test or after root, to clear signs of use.
if you flash the original rom 0626 (from wwwv5zn.com) with SP_FlashTool, compass is working!!
I am afraid it's not working… I rebooted the phone and nothing happened, compass needle is not moving.
What should be permissions of this file?
Hi. I want ask there is possibilty to calibrate gyroscope in JiayuG2s. There isn't calibrate option in settings and folder /data/misc/sensors/ have only one file: .empty. Maybe I must create file to calibrate it?

on my V5 without this file, compass don't work on this Cyanogenmod rom, but my compass work fine on rom stock (flashed with fp_flashtool), maybe your V5 have hardware problems.
which other files you have in folder /data/misc/sensors ?
have you wrote the file on phone or on PC ? be sure only characters "space" 0 1 "dot" are used. there are 2 integer 0 at begin, followed by 26 float value, and another 2 integer 0 at the end.
Ok, let's start from the beginning
Currently I am using CM10.1 v3.0. I placed the file in following location: /data/misc/sensors. There are no other files except newly created accel_nvm. Owner and permissions are set correctly. Line endings in the file are OK too, as well as the content of this file.
Still no move in compass app.
it is all like mine, but i use Marine Compass and CPU-Z as test program.
i done a new test. The guilty is the "Quick boot" option in "Settings / Accessibility" remove it and then reboot. After you see the compass work, you can set again "Quick boot".
as you can see in the last screenshot, after use the compass, values inside the file change, system store calibration data in this file. Calibration occours when you turn your phone around an axis (X,Y,Z) when compass is active.
if still not work, just to be sure your hardware is good, do a backup, then flash the original stock rom with FP_flashtool, not via CWM and don't use prerooted image, just the original. (i have a copy taken from http://www.v5zn.com)
Thanks, Caber, for the instructions! For a few days I've been following a thread about it on Androidiani.com using Google Translator.
But for me it didn't work. I did try a clean official 0626 rom from here (it's the same as on http://www.v5zn.com, unrooted), the compass did not work from the very start, although there was that file accel_nvm with only 0's and 1's. BTW, in the end of that file there were 3 more HEX symbols: 0A 0D 0A. I tried to remove them – no change. Either way doesn't work. Quick boot was always off.
Don't know what else to do. Do you only change accel_nvm? Do you leave bmm050d and memsicd3416x as they are, untouched?
Just for information, my phone is not from the first batches, they sent it to me in the beginning of July 2013, it arrived with the latest 0626 rom installed.

if compass don't work with official rom, i think the problem in your V5 is something else, maybe hardware.
in my phone compass works fine from the beginning, now i use stock rom 0626, when i tryed this CMv3 compass stop working. Looking inside module memsicd3416x i found that it read & write the file accel_nvm, missing in CMv3 but present in my backup of 0626, so i simply copied this file from the backup.
in /system/bin there are several module for different magnetometer chip, also for bmm050, you can delete all of them, they are not used at all. Low level code to manage mmc3426 chip is in the Kernel (code inside BOOT.IMG), module memsicd3416x is an interface between apps and kernel. There are some pseudo files in /sys/bus/platform/driver/msensor, like sensordata,are written by code in Kernel, they continue to exist with correct value inside also when memsicd3416x not exist at all.
another test do do ? yes. As i wrote before, pseudo file /sys/bus/platform/driver/msensor/sensordata contain value read by kernel they are magnetic field for X,Y,Z axis, open this file as text with RootExplorer, take note of the values, close the file, put phone in another position, read again the file. If values changes, you hardware is ok, otherwise nothing to do, sorry.
another pseudo file is the file /sys/bus/platform/driver/msensor/layout it store values for rotate and map the axis read by sensor to meet Android magnetic field axis definition. Open with text editor with RootExplorer, add a line at the beginning with only a number in range 0-7, then close &save the file and open again to view as text, in the first line you must see as second number inside brackets what you wrote.
the last test: try the MIUI rom from Robotnik (present here on NeedROM), it use another memsicd3416x module, is faulty and don't give correct Nord indication, but work on a lot of V5 that haven't hardware problems.

I've included 2 versions on accel_nvm: original unedited (with 3 HEX symbols in the end) and with the second 1 changed to -1 to invert an axis.

copy this file to /data/misc/sensors (you must have root priviledge to do this) and rename as accel_nvm without dot at the end

But obviously there are more than one configurations of Vowney V5, so this doesn't work for everyone.
I've tried all that you wrote, but no luck. Just like they write on Androiodiani, sensordata does not change from its 1567, 1600, 1600 vaues, though layout does change like you write, and the driver from robotnik's MIUI ROM is really tied to g-sensor, so that compass moves, but towards earth only.
