   Thanks ChauVu..TWRP works smoothly in my Gionee S5.5.

   Had to google a lot to understand how to install the recover, would be really helpful if u could provide installation steps as well.

   To reply to my own comment above:

   - install Android SDK (or whatever gives you access to adb.exe)

   - enable USB debug mode on the device (maybe you also need to install some ADB-related stuff?)

   - get the recovery.img file from the downloaded .zip, copy to the phone (MTP or via adb.exe)

   - adb.exe shell  ->  su -> dd if=/sdcard/recovery.exe of=/dev/recovery bs=4096  -> CTRL+C (quits shell)

   - adb.exe reboot recovery
