Hi, just a quick feedback: THANKS!
I was able to finally root my Armor. Some hints for those who want to try the same too:

    1) FIRST download the SuperSU zip file and store it on an SD card and put that SD-card into the phone

    2) Install the correct TWRP recovery as described here:
    http://www.stupdroid.com/2017/02/official-rom-ulefone-armor.html

    3) With phone still turned OFF, boot into recovery:
This is done by pressing POWER and VOL-UP at the same time until you see a text boot screen (with very small font).
Select "recovery"with VOL-UP, press "OK"with the VOL-DOWN button (as explained in the boot menu text).

    4) In TWRP recovery, install the SuperSU from the SD card in the phone as described here:
    http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-flash-supersu-using-twrp-recovery-and-root-any-android-device/
Make sure to let the phone go though 2 or 3 reboots until it boots into Android as usual.

WARNING: You may well lose all the stuff from the phone internal storage!

If you run into trouble and can't turn off the Armor (because "remove battery"doesn't work) then hold POWER and HOME HARDBUTTON pressed together for about 10 seconds. Once the screen goes dim, immediately hold POWER and VOL UP until you see the recovery boot screen. From there, enter recovery again and follow hints for escaping boot loops (wipe dalvik, cache maybe required). See here:
