You can root the phone with Kingroot or iroot.

Use TWRP from TCL M3G (same phone, just another name), can download here in Needrom –TCL brand, M3G type.

Flash TWRP with Flashify from google play.

You can reboot with Flashify into recovery mode.

Rootjoy cannot manage this phone, because Snapdragon SoC.

I suggest you to register UMI official forum (umidigi.com), there you can find many information about Emax mini.

      Szívesen :)

My emax mini is 5.02 –OK –but the multilanguage is missing most languages –especially Hungarian, not to mention several others ….dismaying.

Do we know abiut CM 12.1 in this sense ?

      - You have to root the phone (with kingroot or iroot)

      - Install supersu apk from Play

      - Install Flashify from play

      - Copy TWRP .img (recovery.img) to SD card of phone

      - Flash it with Flashify (flash recovery menu)

      - Now you can restart your phone to recovery mode with Flashify.

      - In recovery mode (TWRP) you have to select swipe, after swipe you have to select Install where you can select your ROM to flash, which you must copy to SD card before

Have you tried that process? Because I have, and it doesn't work for me and many other people.

I rooted the phone with iRoot. Which installed a TWRP, apart from Kingroot.

    I replaced Kingroot with SuperSu.

I tried to replace iRoot's TWRP with TCL M3G's one. No luck. And I'm stuck there. So many people have bricked their phones trying to install this CM 12.1, so I haven't tried yet.

Did you mean Swipe or Wipe?

You are right, I mean Wipe.

Did you try Flashify to overwrite recovery.img? And did not work?

      It worked for me.

About UMI CM12.1: you can try to install, ROM works, and if you make the suitable steps, phone will not be bricked.

So, is this safe &reliable to install on the original 5.5"Umi Emax please? And if so, by what method to guarantee success and fully working?

    Thank you

    About copying TWRP (recovery.img):
Where do you get that TWRP image file?

You can find it in TCL brand –M3G type here in needrom. Same phone, only other name. You can install TCL M3G custom ROMs to UMI Emax mini and reverse.

No, it does not work for me…I dont get it. And how did you update the binaries of supersu? I had to install a beta version from the twrp.. Could that be the problem?
