DESCRIPTION
This is made for the 4GB version!
OctOS is a Cyanogenmod 12.1 based custom rom.
First install my PhilZ Touch Recovery 6.59.0, make a backup, then make factory reset, then install rom AND gapps (it was tested this way). USE AN EXTERNAL SD CARD!
I just ported the rom to our device, big-big kudos for the original rom's authors:
http://www.mtkroms.com/2016/04/bugless-lollipop-octos-for-mt6582.html
Known errors/bugs/etc:
- No FM Radio
- No internal SD: Repartition your phone's memory to bigger /data partition, 2.5-3GB recommended, and use an external SD.
- Youtube app show videos only with 360p resolution
※Please make a backup of your device before installing or updating ROM

Thanks for firmware , really liked , is stable . But it is not working gyroscope. When the USB charging mode by no way to leave it . If so, how?
Yes its stable and fast ROM, thanks for it. Only issue i noticed so far is that sometimes the phone needs 2-3 seconds to wake up before showing the lock screen. Changing the launcher (i tested Apex + Nova) or use another lock screen app did not solve the issue.
Yep i also noticed the "lazy wake up" issue, cant fix it sorry
Hm okay. Did you try to successfully port other ROMs from mtkroms.com?
Yes i ported almost all mm based roms. I can share them if you are interested. The only problems what i found is that the GPS and screencast isnt working.
Yeah sure, i appreciate everything you share. I tried to port some CM13 roms, but i often ended up in a boot loop. I think only aicp 11 worked for me, but it did not identify my provider and mobile data (2g/3g) did not work as well.
You can try my port of AICP 11 To be honest i started MM based roms, but then went back to 5.1.1.
Hi hungi,
Thanks a lot for new rom. Right now I have been using MIUI7 rom from this site. All friends are enjoying you nice rom so I thought let try. But failed and I get STATUS 7 error, I tried all ways changing recovery.
Could you please help to get right? What must I do?
Thank you.
Assert? i think you tried to install my recovery from the factory or an old recovery.
1, Root your phone, then install Mobile Uncle Tools 2.9.9. When you start MUT, you must give it root rights. Then copy .img file and rom.zip to your phone's EXTERNAL SD root directory, then update recovery with Mobile Uncle Tools. When its done, you can reboot into recovery.
I downloaded MUT2.9.9 and installed your recovery but doesnt boot recovery, just flashing MIUI7. I waited for recovery but never came out .
Now what is further solution?
Hi hungi,
I use Jiayu G2f 4gb phone. I also tried to look 'accert …' In updater script but I can't find as per Google search.
Waiting for your suggestion.
Thank you.
can you port this rom : http://www.mtkroms.com/2016/05.....t6582.html#more
or some else it looks pretty good.
Best Regards
I already did ot but to be honest 5.1.1 based roms are better. MM is smoother, but a lot of problems with them. Here is the link. You need to download a goggle apps package from from opengapps and install right after the rom.
First of all thanks for sharing your MM ports. Does the Resurrection MM port really work for you? I can successfully install it, but when i reboot the phone, i get stuck at the Jiayu boot logo. I tried to port it on my own and at least i could see the Resurrection Remix boot animation, but it gets stuck there as well (Jiayu G2F 4GB WCDMA).
AICP MM is running smooth. Well to be honest i did not test the GPS, but its the same provider problem and it does not support mobile data, so i cant really use it and did not continue testing it.
I also think that 5.1.1 ports are fine at the moment, as your OctoOS port is very good. Its stable, fluent and i did not notice any remarkable bugs. I found out that the "lazy wake up" must have something to do with the power management, because when i set up the battery mode "performance" (like this: https://abload.de/img/screensh.....-05-27nlsr2.png ) the phone wakes up without this 2-3 seconds lag. I know its no real fix, as the battery drains probably faster in this mode, but it works. Another little bug might be the camera, which isnt very good i think, but it does not bother me, as i dont use this phone for taking pictures anyway. I dont know if another camera apk would be better. A minor bug is, when i take a picture, select it from the camera app and press the left menu button then this menu is full black ( https://abload.de/img/screensh.....-05-27btszw.png ). But it doesnt really matter, as the delete, edit and share function is visible on the screen anyway.
Did you port any other 5.1.1 roms yet?
Ok guys I am happy that someone is still intresting jiayu g2f, looking forward for some update or any other port later i will try this Octos first. This wake up issue is because this is port rom or because stock rom has a bug ??
if you know you that have to wait to 2-3 sec when you push the power button to wake up it doesnt really a problem anymore…
To be honest it really annoyed me, especially because this wake up freeze occured only randomly, hence it is unpredictable. Like i have written before, i suspected the power management, so i installed kernel adiutor (root) to check the cpu behavior of the battery modes. I found out that the phone needs some stable core power, in order to wake up fluently. The default cpu govenor is hotplug and according to battery life probably also the best available, as it uses the multi core cpu in a very efficient way (detect and turn off unused/unnecessary cores). But i think this is the main issue here, because when the screen is turned off, some cpu cores are set to idle and i assume that the wake up process requires more cpu power and the available cores are not sufficient. Anyway choosing another governor (e.g. powersave) fixed the wake up freeze problem for me and i'm back on battery mode "balanced".
THX, the 4.4.2 8GB version also has this problem, not anymore.
