Install ROM:
 V2 and up

Download desired zip and copy on sdcard.

You need a modified recovery to install the firmware and updates. If you have it already, proceed to step 3. If you don't have, follow these steps:

1. Download Lenovo drivers, unzip the archive. Turn off the phone and remove battery. Open device manager and connect the phone to PC. Watch for new devices. It will be displayed as МТ65хх Preloader. You need to be quick, because it will dissapear in some second. Click on it with the right button and select update driver. Point the wizard to the driver folder, it will install the correct driver automatically.
If it doesn't work with removed battery you can try to power on the phone and turn on developer options in settings or enter meta mode – hold Volume Down and Power buttons. Then connect the phone to PC again.
2. Download and extract Recovery zip and Flash tools. Run Flash Tools, click on DL DA All With Check Sum, load the scatter file located in Recovery folder, uncheck Preloader and hit Download (F6). Remove battery from phone and connect it to PC. When done, a green circle will appear.
3. Enter recovery mode – hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until you see the logo. Make a backup of your current system first. Install new zip.

    Hi all, I am considering repartioning my phone so that all the internal memeory is in one place, 

     

    Has anyone done this? Is there anything to be careful of when doing this?

    hi everybody

    just installed the new rom. everything works fine so far except the gps but i will confirm that tomorrow (i have to admit i was in a rush today and was a bit impatient). am i the only one who receives message from OTA updates offernig to install the "new" 2.3.4 rom :) . 

    infrared thank you very much for removing "meta mode" message when my phone was off and charging it was really bugging me a lot :)

    Memory repartition:

    Decided to have ago anyway, im currently running 2.3.5 with cwm 6.0.3 backed up as described in the link below, went for the option for 3.32 GB internal partion and 301mb sd card followed the instructions restore didnt do all the apps, but the data was still there, just did a download of the missing apps, also the phone reported damaged sd card so got the phone to reformat it, worked.

    a very easy process to follow…

    can you check in system settings/about phone/status/imei information

    how many imei-s are here?

    I flash my phone (both sim works, and all imei is showing in mobileuncle tools)
    but in system settings/about phone/status/imei information is like this

    IMEI(Slot1)

    IMEI SV(Slot1)
    78

    and *#06# shows only first imei

    As well as the problems with chinese text, not recognising contacts when they phone, sms threading, I'm also now having significant (around 10%) and unexplained battery drops. Can anybody help??!!!!

      davidinuk, im running 2.3.5 and dont get any of the issues or chinese tetx you see, I have however on occasion seen battery drop but it has always been after i have installed an app, 

      what version are you running and what chinese text do you see?

      Sounds like my my problems with 2.4RC1 :( Contacts show-up if you remove country code from each one in addressbook but it's not a solution – what if you're abroad and want make roaming call? In 2.3.4 not such problems with contact recognition.

      Thanks both for getting back to me. I'm using the 2.4 version. There are chinese characters underneath the location which shows the SIM which is being used for the call. It also shows up in call logs on many phone numbers.

      I tried updating Ideafriend but when trying to install the APK, it won't install and gives the following message.

      "An exisiting package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed"

      Well spotted!!

      Becauase Orange and Tmobile have merged in the UK, and I am an Orange customer, for some strange reason, this phone has always thought that I am roaming when using their shared masts. I'd LOVE to be able to solve that problem, because now I am also getting the message askign me if I am sure I want to use the roaming sim each time I make a call!!! Its also frustrating!!

      Are you really in Roaming, because your first SIM indicator shows you’re in roaming, or it is a bug?

      Otherwise, please don't update these new Lenovo apps. There are many modifications and if you update them everything will be lost. Believe me, you don't want the original versions for so many reasons.

      I have this issue as well re the roaming, I am in the process of requesting an upgrade SIM from orange to EE, costing me a £5. to see if that gets round the roaming issue, will let you know,

      I did try to investigate this a while back there are some suggestions in this thread somewhere, that I may revisit.

      davidinuk, Infrared, I beleive I have found the solution to roaming issue, seem to be related national roaming needs to be enabled, I did a full back up and applied this apk

      The roaming indictaor has gone and i have disabled roaming and told it always notifiy me. no issues so far…

      Just checked and the apk allows you to turn off national roaming, by disabling it in the xposed installer.

      Thanks nallen132 for that APK to fix the roaming issue. I will try it when I have a spare minute.

      More presing for me ATM is the way this new contact manager doesn't recognise contacts if they are stored in an international format. My SMS threads, my call logs and incoming call notifications are not working. If theres no speedy fix, I'm going to have to revert to an old version of the ROM. The basic function of a phone has to work properly before evrything else and this lack of support for international number code formats is proving to be a killer for me!

      Put simply, it seems that the phone cannot recognise that a number beginning with 0 is the same as a number beginning with 0044 or +44.

      I'd like to try resetting the contacts manager but cant work out which app to clear data on. I have an idea that perhaps the location setting in contacts manager did something strange (perhaps this is also the cause of the Chinese text). Can anybody help?

      Would it be the app called ContactManager? If I did clear all the data on that app, how would it get my contacts again from Google? Wouldn't it just delete them from my online ac as well?

      Thanks for that. I've cleared the app settings and now the funny Chinese characters have gone. I think they only appeared after I did something with the location menu option. However, the issue of the international format numbers is still there.i.e if I have a callers number stored in international format, when they call me, all I see is the number without their name so I have no idea who is calling me. :-(

      Thanks so much for your response. I'm afraid I started with a clean slate and didn't restore any ideafriend or associated backups. I also just did a complete wipe of the app data in the android app manager which didn't help. :-(

      The contact maanger version I have is 1.13.9, "if you dont already know" go to the info centre there are options to local backup and options to export and import from which ever accounts you ahve setup as well as contatcs local onthe phone.

      Perhaps you've restored old messages and call logs from a backup or the settings for ideaFriend?

      You can try to export your contacts and clean everything related to ideaFriend on your sdcards and /data, /data/data or just delete contacts (after export), delete messages, then go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> ContactsManager -> Clear Data/Clear Cache. I will take a look in the code anyway, but it seems to work for me. The app groups calls from same contact and properly displays who's calling me, regardless how numbers are saved in contacts (with +359 or 0).

      I haven't touched gravitybox at all. Never even opened it, nor the extensions thing either (cant remember the name!)

      Or it is just the gravitybox, because I've enabled it since yesterday, but didn't clear contacts, so the mod is not working at all, I think. However, it was working before that with the fix in the framework.

      It is a fix for numer comparison. Original comparator works with 11 or 12 digits, can't remember exactly. The matching happens from right to left, so it looks for the last 11 digits. Now, if you take +359 888 123456, then it matches +359 888 123456, which will work in case the number for this contact is saved with the country code. However, if it is saved as 0 888 123456, then it does not match. The fix is to decrease that minimum digits to something like 7 or 8. 8 should work best for Bulgaria. I have to take a look in the code again, I may have accidentally reverted the change.

      GravityBox has the same fix integrated as an option, but you need to follow instructions there if you enable it, which means – reboot, clear data for ContactManager from Settings -> Apps -> All, delete contacts and import them again.

      Thanks for this update. Seems I will now have to try your recommendation of that exposed add in.

      I'm a tiny bit wary however, as the last time I touched exposed framework (even without making any changes) my phone went haywire. However, I am getting very frustrated with this new warning message asking me all the time if I am sure I want to use the roaming sim so I'll have to take the plunge!

      davidinuk, Hi got my EE SIM and the phone still thinks its Orange there must be afile somewhere that needs updating to include UK carriers.. best way forward is to use the National roaming update which does work.. as I got a roaming warning at the weekend.

    GPS is much faster now on 2.4 than previously, it locks in seconds instead of minutes. I did have a problem with Lenovo Powermanager it kept being given SU rights every couple of minutes the log in SU was full of this instance happening and i think it was draining the battery because of this. I have removed Power manager alltogether and battery is now good.

    Another little bug is when using the simple calculator with auto-rotation enabled it switches to scientific if tilted slightly but wont switch back without using the settings button.

    Apart from those niggles its a great rom and job well done Infrared !!

      With titanium backup you can freeze / remove any app. but be careful ! you have to know what you do. I removed the annoying power manager.

      Rotation of calculator seems to work every time for me, although I'm not sure this version is better than the previous one. IMO it looks a little bit nicer and has the same functions (basically it's the old app with a new "skin"). I'd prefer a cleaner look and feel. Might try to modify it, but that's not a top priority.
