DESCRIPTION
Lenovo P780 ROM version P780_ROW_S220_140722, untouched
This is a signifiant upgrade to Lenovo P780 ROW, it is a full upgrade package and will erase all user data. The OS is upgraded to version 4.4.2 KitKat.
Applying this update will also remove custom recovery and replace it with factory version. After applying this update, all user apps will be removed. The first restart will take longer as usual, so be patient on the first boot. The 'boot' and 'recovery' images are overwritten by the update, if you use root and/or custom recovery, you will have to reinstall the custom recovery with SPFlash Tool.
Before upgrading, back up your data (SMS, Call logs, Apps) with Lenovo Backup & Restore, you will be able to restore it later with Settings / Backup/Restore feature. The installer will remove the internal virtual SD card, making a single internal storage partition for both data, cache and user apps.
The baseband contained within this ROM is for ROW version of Lenovo P780, 2nd SIM will not work if you use it on non-ROW devices.
What's new

- 'Smart Scene' feature allows automated audio profile switch, either at a specified time or at a specified wireless network presence
- More theme-able (lock screen, system UI, boot animation, notification UI, contact manager and in-call app can now have different themes (even though only 2 themes are provided).

- all audio volumes are available/adjustable when pressing volume-up/volume-down
- flip-to-mute incoming call alert, auto-redial option
- LED alert now flashes, instead of staying continuously lit (but still doesn't provide notification from other apps, such as facebook)
- the display colours can be tuned for saturation and hue (white balance)
- a 'wireless display' function has been added
- 'Smart Display' feature, preventing the screen to enter standby if the user is looking at the screen.
- Available languages: Bahasa (Indonesia & Melayou), English, Spanish, French, Vietnam, Russian, Chinese, Ukrainian, etc. Other languages can be set with morelocale 2 app, but the system settings app will use english in that case.
How to install the ROM
If you use the stock ROM, then you can go to settings / version info / update and download the update.
If your existing ROM is a modified ROM, then you need a custom recovery able to install zip from SD Card. Download the zip, copy it to the phone card, reboot the phone by pressing 'power + vol-up + vol-down' to enter recovery interface, apply zip update.
What zip to download ?
I noticed some users have trouble installing the original ROM onto some devices. I just added a 2nd zip, which should not throw error 7 when attempting to install it. The only difference from this zip and the first one is the device check bypass. Therefore, the installer on the second zip will not attempt to identify what device are you using, it may run on ANY device. The other files are the same as on the original zip, the same factory recovery, same apps, same kernel and so on.
The update will work properly if your existing ROM is a factory ROM. The zip format package assumes the device has a specific storage layout, and therefore it does not reflash scatter and PMT, but it reflashes EBR1 and EBR2 storage partition tables. If your device uses a custom ROM with a modified storage layout, the update may fail and you to get a blank screen. If that happens, flash a factory ROM (s119-s124 works just fine) with SPFlash, then apply this zip update. You can use the pre-rooted SPFlash package for a faster installation.

Did you apply s221 atop of this zip, or on a modified ROM? S221 can’t be applied (without a bit of hack) on ROMs with different baseband (modem) image.
I've succes S221, how to root? is there a version suitable framaroot?
Hi. Could anyone who is using this rom shere information about how long batery last for on this rom please? I tryed few kit kat roms but on each one battery was going down so quickly.

Don’t take ‘as granted’ the battery stats on the first 2 days. Especially if you have lots of media files, which may be indexed on the background.

i forget to install superuser,zip after install the update.zip

I tried current framaroot, it didn't work. Maybe newer versions will do.
mantubxyz, you could start over with spflash older rooted rom + update rom + update root
framaroot doesnt work on 4.4.2, I have root acces with enterco way, see coments below, but I have problem with invalid imei. I try with mtk droid tool but doesnt work, some ideas?
IMEI should be stored in nvram portion of the memory. If you have a spflash backup of the nvram, then you could flash it back and see what happens.
Only the nvram portion, the others aren't needed.
how to disable SmartSound (noise cancelation), i had this option in 4.2.1 ?

after flash this ROM,its there any way to flash VIBEUi 2.0_ROM back?
Of course it is. You will have to follow vibe installation instructions. If you have a vibe delivered as spflash image, then everything will work fine, if yiu have a zip vibeui, then you may have to spflash an older p780 rom first.
what older p780 rom your recomend? I already try P780_ROW_S119_130930, but didnt work.(i got China version)

Hi.I had no problem with installing this rom via twrp,also rooting no problem,geno software working ok with this.
But I have a question.After installing I go to system update,and its want to update to s221 so I download the update file,then system asked did I want to update now,so I choose yes,system reboot,but twrp didnt update the system.
Its propably will update on stock recovery,but how to restore stock recovery,when I installed that rom TWRP still exist in the p780.
Also did sim2 slot working on that rom?
SIM2 works if you have the true ROW international version of the device. If you use the Chinese one (with chinese writing on the battery), then go to the other P780_S220_For_China_Baseband thread aside, we will talk there abut those problems.

how many space block by this rom aroud ?
like in s220 updates there are using 7gb out of 8gb, so any one who have installed this pls tell me how many it used ?
I do not properly understand your question. If you talk about internal storage, I can confirm the device has more than (total storage – 2) GB usable after installation.
The data stored on the phone (SD Card excluded) WILL BE LOST on update, so make sure you backup your data on SD Card or elsewhere.
The S220 update has about 740MB, S22-_to_S221 has less than 200MB, make sure you have free that space on internal storage.
