I think the instructions are not right and I just can't find the scatter! I tried to update on Rescue and Smart Assistant and now it keeps showing the error: [check_region] fail. I just can't use my tablet so I really need help! If someone could help me I'd really appreciate! My e-mail is: warleygandra@hotmail.com

The instructions here I think are for the older Mediatek firmwares, which used SP Flash Tool versions 5 and prior.

This rom here uses the new standard.

    1. You need SP Flash Tool version 6 and older (for example SP_Flash_Tool_v6.2316_Win)

    2. Make sure you have the Mediatek drivers (Mediatek USB VCOM Drivers / Auto Mediatek USB VCOM Drivers Signed)

    3. Under Download-XML, Click on the Choose button.

    4. Locate the XML File in the rom called "flash.xml"

    5. Next you need to Load the Authentication File "da.auth" also located in the decompressed rom.

    6. Click the "Download" button

    7. Connect your Mediatek Device to the computer using the USB Cable (make sure it is power off).

    8. After connecting the device to the computer Press Volume Down or Volume Up key, so that SP Flash Tool V6 can detect the device.

    9. Once the computer detects the device, the flashing or installation process will begin automatically.

    10. Once the installation process is completed, a Green Ring will appear.

    11. Close the SP Flash Tool V6 and disconnect your Mediatek device from the computer.

the problem is not the flash file. Apparently any rom that is not the Chinese one, that is, the global rom, the device returns with a check region fail error. Unfortunately we are stuck with the Chinese ROM on this device

That does not make any sense though. Have you tried a complete reset within the system on the Chinese rom, than instead of going through the setup you turn of and flash the global? A region fail can be triggered only on a loaded system. It doeas not matter while booting. You might also have forgotten to delete all google accounts and securities prior to flashing. If you leave some of those and because the bootloader is locked and no chance of reformating, you might get such problems.

I'm also wondering, I can't resolve this error

Region check will fail if your device is originally a chinese version with Zui, but online sellers flashed it with global rom.

I got one of these 'fake' global rom device, the problem i face is I can't even flash it back to Zui successfully.

Do you know how one can check if the version of the tablet is the one with chinese fake global?

@Sveto, the fake ones bootloader is already unlocked on arrival and most chinese sellers are 'honest' enough to specify the devices are flashed with global rom and cannot be updated. Lol, some of the sellers also sell the original zui chinese version on request, more expensive, go figure.

Thanks for clearing that out. I have 2 Lenovos P11 gen2, one is an EU version (bought in Europe) and the other is a US version (from Amazon). Both are getting regular updates. And I checked them on the Lenovo page. Thery are legit, the EU variant (6gb ram) has 2 years waranty, while the US model (4gb ram) only 12 months. Glad I can use any of the roms here, because Lenovo has messed up the A13. While on A12 everything was working like magic. And all video/media apps were using wisely the entire screen. Now on A13 many media apps (YT, Bitchute, Odysee) are doing full screen video, but no comments, unless you flip the screen, or no full screen like Odysee. The lockscreen widget does not have a progress bar, let alone the wavy one, as promissed for A13. In settings on both tablets going to "Display" section crashes the Settings App. None of those inconveniences were present on A12. So I completely dislike A13 to be honest. Yes it is possible some of those problems might be due to the update, as opposed to a clean install after factory reset, but I highly doubt it is possible to have the very same problems on both tablets. Most likely the fault is at Lenovo. So I have been thinking for a while now to go back to the last A12L, which was really well done.
