How to install the ROM
You have to use my Unoffical TWRP 3.3.1-0 Recovery to flash your device later. The file in the attachment is zipped and valid for the Recovery (don't extract!)
Please backup NVRAM and IMEI with TWRP BEFORE flash! If you lose your MAC / IMEI after flash, you can restore it in 2 seconds!
First time installing the ROM
Boot into TWRP -> delete Dalvik, Cache, System and Data -> Install the ROM ZIP -> Install GAPPS -> Restart your phone -> thats it!
Upgrade from earlier version
Boot into TWRP -> delete Dalvik, Cache, System -> Install the ROM ZIP -> Install GAPPS -> Restart your phone -> thats it!
Update to newer version with patch
Boot into TWRP -> Install Patch ZIP -> delete Dalvik, Cache -> Restart your phone -> thats it!
Bugs and how you can fix it
- to reduce flickering on apps (only few have this issue), go to: settings -> developer options -> animation duration scale -> animation off

Is the ROM rooted?
No. You can install Magisk or SuperSu via TWRP
What about other languages?
You can choose your language as usual
Are the Google Play Service already installed in this ROM?
No. You have to install newest open pico gapps (ARM -> Android 7.1 -> Pico)
Is this rom for the old or new eMMC?
The current kernel allows to support both versions. it doesn't matter if new (DL2016) or old (Q823MB)
We'll get soon MIUI, IOS or Samsung TouchWiz as ROM?
No, No and No. All three ROMs exits but they are so buggy.
I dont will publish these ROMs. They are not ready as daily driver.
What is the different between source and optimized in changelog version?
source: build the custom rom directly new from source code
optimized: only changed some files / fixed bugs from latest rom

Hi. I've tried the Google Dialer and the Rocket. Both the same problem: Display becomes dark and could not be waked up.
I wonder why. It seems that other users don't have the problem. Perhaps there is someone who can perform a TWRP-Backup and share it for me via Googledrive. Perhaps this works…..
I think the problem is not the dialerapp. It must be a process which becomes activ through the dialer. But which one? Perhaps it is possible to move the neccesary files from stock?

That would be great. Shall I test it? Is it right that the text from github must be copied by rootexplorer to the named xml-file?

Actually you should wait until I have compiled the new version later or tomorrow. Otherwise If you want to test it with the rom zip you need to decompile the framework with apktool, edit the file and recompile the framework. But for decompile you need porting knowledge.
I don't port roms (or decompile), I build the roms by source directly. So I can edit my device tree and compile the device tree to create a rom zip file with latest changes by source.
You will not find the file with root explorer because the needed file is within framework file
Just wait until I have uploaded the new version.

Hey, You need to update your twrp to latest version. The ROMs have new Updater script and needs latest twrp which support the new script. I will updates the rom maybe in the future. But I can't promise it. Have other plans instead update these old phones. (working on Cubot X18 and Cubot Note Plus)

Tested it now and have no issues to install latest RR 5.8.5 on my Note S.
Make a screenshot in twrp (with the error message while install) and write me a private message. Need to read the error message.

should work now, give it a try. I would recommend to clean install the latest rom.
RR (based on 20191028) has newer github repos (more bug fixes, newer webview, more security fixes)
