Update 15.01.2014

Fixed color temperature bug (please see #2).

Alpha version

Port from ZTE V987. Thanks to bruno for the base. Also thank to cloudROM and MIUI teams, their roms helped me for the final fixes. Unfortunately, it is still based on S139 kernel. I couldn't find a way to overcome the issue with messed up touchscreen and orientation. It was working on my phone only.

Don't forget this is just a test version for those who like to experiment. It would be a big luck if everything works as intended, so if you're looking for a bug-free and stable rom, then it's adviseable not to install this version before bugs are fixed.

Install through CWM/TWRP.

Needless to say – make a backup of your current system first.

Spent a lot of nights working on this and finally managed to fix everything…or almost.

Most of the things seem to work, but needs testing. It is guaranteed that won't mess up the touchscreen (verified on another A820).

The ROM is permanently rooted and multilanguage, gapps not included, but you can install from this link: http://goo.im/devs/UniqueDroid/gapps/gapps-4.2.1/gapps-jb-4.2.1-20121129-signed.zip through CWM/TWRP.

If you get installation aborted, then you don't have a proper recovery installed. Download this one http://d-h.st/QxB rename it to recovery.img, copy to sdcard and install through MobileUncleTools (you can download it from Google Play).

Working: GPS, Wi-Fi, Sensors, GSM module, camera, audio, video with h/w decoding, mount points, charging

Untested: Bluetooth (turns on, but have no device to test it with), FM radio tested, but needs headphones as antenna

Not working / known bugs:

1. MP3, but plays FLAC – replace libstagefright.so from this link http://d-h.st/Zn6 in /system/lib/, set rw-r–r– permissions and restart the phone.

2. Color temperature changing in some cases - Replace /system/app/Gallery2.apk with attached Gallery2.apk rom the zip file and delete Gallery2.odex. Reboot the phone. Playing the recorded videos directly from the Camera leads to FC, but otherwise everything seems fine. This version is unaltered in any way, but fixes the nasty color temperature bug. FC problem will be fixed in the next full release.

3. USB Tethering – disable USB Debugging from Developer options and it will work

4. Contacts binding (don't have 2 SIM cards, so unable to test)

5. Search in contacts stops at 2nd symbol

Could you post a 4.2 (API 17) rom with a borrowed kernel that ruins touchscreen on others but works with your phone. It would be useful also if you describe how was that your phone entered the God mode you mention. Please be as specific as possible. I have a phone from the most recent batch (yes with the mtk6589m) and I will do my best to find a solution or at least to find the reason behind this behavior.

no expandable notification center at lock screen

  I've already fixed the lockscreen and some other things. I've made a mix from ZTE V987 and THL W200. It was easier to borrow a working framework instead of fixing/modifiying the one provided by ZTE.

I flashed the A830 kernel (kernel only), everything seems to work, but touchscreen, I was able to flip the X-axis, now the left right swipe is OK, but is not enough, there is no symetry on the Y's, the screen is divided in 4 non-regular regions, is impossible to fix by flipping scaling, shifting .. but I'm not sure, there is nothing to be done, touch buttons don't work either, and is really difficult to test.
Infrared:
The touchscreen problem arrives with borrowed kernels, or the also occurs with stock kernel and borrowed framework/additional files???, maybe is a configuration and not a kernel problem. By the way, do you have some info about the touchscreen (the one you bought) manufacturer, I have some touchscreen drivers, but android isn't Linux, so I'm not able (yet) to disable the "built-in" touchscreen driver, sincerely I'm not sure if it is possible.
I unpacked the boot.img (from A820 and A830) and the touchscreen is not a loadable (remplazable) kernel module, so is built-in in the kernel.
Please give an answer, I spent a lot of time testing and searching a solution. Do you have another borrowed kernel to play with???

  It's the kernel that does this. I have tried various kernels from different phones and although I'm able to boot almost all firmares the things that are always broken are the touchscreen and screen rotation.
  With my current digitizer all other kernels does not affect it. Honestly, I'm not such an expert to tell what exactly goes wrong. You can use the ramdisk from (almost) any other similar phone, but the only working kernel is the stock one. It would be possible if someone from Lenovo provides us with a modified kernel, but I doubt it will happen. I've tried almost all stock firmares from other Lenovo phones, without luck.

Thanks, I think it's more difficult than I though, seems to be a problem with the digitizer, seems to be quite "singular/non-standard", so sad, but I still have some hope.

Hi! I tested the MIUI 3.10.25 – did not work for me. Under instalation i got error mounting sdcard. The phone could not start so i restored a back up. Same problem, error mounting sdcard. But the phone started as normal. When i conect to pc it only show filer on my ex sdcard. Anyone know how to fix?

Hi, I notice you say, "It is guaranteed that won't mess up the touchscreen (verified on another A820)."
Is this true? A lot of threadage seems to concentrate on the messing up of touchscreens.
How messed up can it get? I notice you, infrared, say you have replaced yours. Can I assume one version of this release caused that? I'm okay if any messing up is limited to Android and recoverable by restoring from CWM. Thanks.

another bug i noticed is if you change the defult ringtone to another one after a while the ringtone will change to the defult/Original one
