Hello everybody, I prepared a new custom rom compatible with ANY Iocean x7 based on latest stock firmware for Iocean Elite (02/12 version). I implemented Aroma Installer from Gamma v1.2 onwards and rom zip is now the same for any Iocean x7 (Youth, Youth Turbo, Plus, Elite).

Installation guide

To flash this rom you need a custom recovery as CWM or TWRP. You can download TWRP for all Iocean from here. 
Otherwise if you prefer CWM, download this CWMrecovery.img for Iocean x7 Youth/Youth Turbo or this one for Iocean x7 Plus/Elite and flash it through MobileUncleTools app.
I strongly recommend you to take a Nandroid Backup before flashing this (or any other) rom. I recommend you to backup your IMEI too. To do this you can simply write both IMEI on a piece of paper (you can find them in Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI information)

 

 

 

To install it, follow these simple steps:

  1. Download zip file of the rom (see Download section) and put it in your sdcard - PUT IT IN EXTERNAL SD IF YOU WANT TO REPARTITION
  2. Reboot into recovery
  3. Wipe data (factory reset if you're using CWM), wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (advanced section in CWM) - DO NOT WIPE SYSTEM
  4. Install rom zip from sdcard/external sdcard and follow Aroma installer wizard
  5. Aroma installer will give you the possibility to repartition internal sdcard (more available space for apps).
    If you choose "Do nothing" option, go to point #6 of this guide
    If you choose "Repartition" follow instructions in the spoiler below:

  6. Follow Aroma instructions and reboot once finished
  7. Be patient, first boot may take longer than usual
  8. Read post #2 to get the best from this rom (do not skip this)

    Hi, this is a very good Rom.

    After installing the good version of cours. GPS less 10 secondes and 5 meters accuracy. Wifi ok without the fix.

    But google search musique et soundhoud doesn't seem to be work, like no micro.

    Anybody else have the same problem ?

      Never heard of this problem before, I use soundhound and shazam too. Try to check your mic is working fine (through a microphone app for example).

    I don't understand.

    I have run Z-device, test Mic, not working, like before.

    I have reboot my phone, test mic again with google widget, nothing, Run Z-device again, and mic working well.

    So, problem solve by himself.

      Nice to hear you liked it ;)  Unfortunately there's no way to enable wake up through volume keys or home button, I've already tried with no luck. It's an hardware limit: some mtk6589 support it, others does not and Iocean x7 doesn't.

    it is good, but i did not really test it. i think it shoule be working, itried wif. 2g/3g , camera working.

    it is nice, especially at the begining with the aroma installation

      RAM is not something that get consumed, but only used. It's just a matter of configuration, I could leave free as much ram as I want, it's not difficult, but the more ram I decide to leave free, the worse multitasking performances you would get. The best configuration is a balance between free ram and multitasking: you need to run smooth the app you're using and be able to listen to music at the same time, quickly switch between apps without waiting for redraws and so on. Anyways if you prefer to get tons of free ram (around 300MB out of 1GB), flash GammaRom v1.0 which has completely different settings than v1.4. You can find download link in xda thread ;)

      Are you given that error by OTA app or by recovery? In case of OTA app it's normal, I've a free account on mediafire, so downloads start requiring captchas after a certain number of downloads —> direct downloads through OTA app fails —> MD5 Error.

      That's something I cannot fix anyhow, OTA will always stop working after a certain number of downloads unless I pay for a premium account. The solution is to download it from here (or xda) and flash it as usual. Both OTA and Needrom link to the same file, so doesn't matter where you download it. :)
