Install ROM:
 V2 and up

Download desired zip and copy on sdcard.

You need a modified recovery to install the firmware and updates. If you have it already, proceed to step 3. If you don't have, follow these steps:

1. Download Lenovo drivers, unzip the archive. Turn off the phone and remove battery. Open device manager and connect the phone to PC. Watch for new devices. It will be displayed as МТ65хх Preloader. You need to be quick, because it will dissapear in some second. Click on it with the right button and select update driver. Point the wizard to the driver folder, it will install the correct driver automatically.
If it doesn't work with removed battery you can try to power on the phone and turn on developer options in settings or enter meta mode – hold Volume Down and Power buttons. Then connect the phone to PC again.
2. Download and extract Recovery zip and Flash tools. Run Flash Tools, click on DL DA All With Check Sum, load the scatter file located in Recovery folder, uncheck Preloader and hit Download (F6). Remove battery from phone and connect it to PC. When done, a green circle will appear.
3. Enter recovery mode – hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until you see the logo. Make a backup of your current system first. Install new zip.

※Please make a backup of your device before installing or updating ROM

    Hi jwchen119,

    Thanks

    Hi, I'm using the V2.2 and The Patch 2.2.1 for two days now. I've noticed two issues so far;

    - I can't get a GPS fix

    - Automatic Brightness adjustment doesn't work

Both were still functioning on V2.1. At the V2.1 I had a problem, that changing System Volume (not Multimedia volume) changed also the Ringtone volume and vice versa – the level of both was always the same. This problem persists at the V2.2. I don't know if this is a problem of stock ROM… So some apps are too loud or Ringing if sombody calls is to quiet.

Lenovo contact manager was uptated to v1.10. It looks nicer than old one. Problem is, Chinees characters next to contacts are back. Is it possible somehow remove it on this new version?

I bought Lenovo A820 from Etotalk but realised they installed ZTE mod ROM instead of one based on Lenovo. I am planning to install this new ROM on this phone because I prefer Lenovo ROM with added functionalities such as Lenovo power. Will I get the original etotolk tool? ZTE did not have network icon that is used to access specific network functions such as banking, etc. Does this ROM have this network icon? Why id backing up using Etotalk icon talking over 15 mins?

I downloaded and installed V 2.2. Is good and solved my problem. Thank you a million times!!. I will donate very soon, but the problem is that  doing so from outside using PayPal USA is quite hard. I realised that when inserting a map position  when composing a message directs one to Google Maps that is in Chinese language. Can that be changed to English in future may be? Other than a few places that have traces of Chinese language, the ROM is usable, fast and efficient. Oh, I also realised that there are some noises when making some calls, though not always the case.

I wil ltry to fix all issues, but I broke the touchscreen, so my phone is unusable right now and can't continue before the replacement touchscreen arrives from China…that may take a while :/

About GPS issues – there should not be any difference regarding that part of the ROM from 2.1 to 2.2. Try to enable EPO assistance and download server list. Should help with positioning.

Tried everything to get a GPS fix – EPO assistance on, defined servers with FasterGPS app… No success.

Back to version 2.1, I got a fix within 1,5 minutes with cold start of a system…

    infrared, what is it?:

    - Updates SystemUI with 1% battery mod
    - Updates to empty SIM display mechanism.

    systemUI?  SIM display?

one more thing… my gps don't work very well. It's normal for my phone? or it's problem of your ROM?

    Thank you!!

    Hi infrared

Thanks very much for the detailed explanation. I am using Win8 so Flashtool cannot work as i am unable to install the drivers (not digitaly signed :(  ). I was definately starting in recovery mode and it was some version of CWM but in chinese. Installed your rom only because i was brave (stupid?) enough to chose one of the option which was saying ####SD####.zip. Anyway I decided to give it another go today with Mobileuncle but that did not work either…. However after few restarts and entering recovery mode most of a sudden it changed to the english version?!?!?!? Happy chap now :) .Like your last update very much. The battery indicator is much better like that and the second sim-card gone! Very cool. Keep the good work.

I also had problems with my GPS locking satelites (main reason why i started looking for alternative ROM) Once i enabled EPO everything work great now.

I think you deserve reward for your hard work! Come on guys lets all chip in and help infrared to continue his great work (and get a new screen too! Sorry to hear about this problem :(  ). Lets hope you will get the replacement soon and will not give up on the development of this ROM!

If i can help with anything else except donation please let me now!

      Thanks for the kind words.

I was trying to port 4.2.1 from A830 to A820, but new drivers damaged the touchscreen. Flashing back to official A820 firmwares doesn't help. As I undesrtood from Russian forums, the damage is permanent and can't be fixed with simple tools. Maybe a reprogramming the digitizer chip could fix it, but I don't have the tools and knowledge.

Ordered a new touchscreen 3 days ago, but since it have been sent via China post, probably I will have to wait 2-3 weeks, hopefully not more.
