ROM Install :
CWM
Step 1: Download the custom card ROM copied to an external SD card root directory
Step 2: the shutdown state. While holding down:
Power button + volume button + volume key to enter the recovery mode, wipe data/ factory reset and
wipe cache partition
Step 3: Enter menu apply update from sdcard select the ROM
Step 4: Brush complete, restart the phone
※Please make a backup of your device before installing or updating ROM

So you need to use 7-Zip or WinRaR and open the ROM archive file.
Then go to \META-INF\com\google\android\ and Edit the updater-script file.
Remove everything before the s of show_progress(0.500000, 0); and save the file within the archive.
If you want to, you can also edit the language, region and timezone in the build.prop file, which can be found at \system\
I also remove all but baidushurufa_52.apk (the keyboard!) and reinstall_apps from \data\preinstall_apps (because I don't want any of these supplementary apps provided with the ROM
As has been mentioned, I think the reason the check doesn't work, is that the custom CWM Recovery version you are using, wrongly identifies the phone as A820.
When I try to install miui 3.8..23 and 3.8.5 on clean S118 my Lenovo A830 this is what happens:

You can not install the cwm version 6.0.2.8 and 5.5. The installation goes through TWRP but there are errors in your search such as youtube, google play, etc.
one of the besst
even Gapps is bugged, but it is a negectable bug
, when compared to the nice features and the charming look.
Anyway, to turn around the gapps bug, H have done the following:
1. flash the gapps right after the rom"before restart"
2. the apps will work except for the search option, you can search in the browser, then "open with" play store
hope it gonna be fixed by the developer soon.

Then I Googled to find out a solution, asked at some official forums to tell me a solution. Still no help. One of my friends from XDA who happens to be a MIUI ROM developer, suggested me to remove the following lines found at the beginning of “updater-script” found at this path: miuiandroid_m0-2.9.10.zip> META-INF> com> google> android> updater-script:
