Install ROM:
 V2 and up

Download desired zip and copy on sdcard.

You need a modified recovery to install the firmware and updates. If you have it already, proceed to step 3. If you don't have, follow these steps:

1. Download Lenovo drivers, unzip the archive. Turn off the phone and remove battery. Open device manager and connect the phone to PC. Watch for new devices. It will be displayed as МТ65хх Preloader. You need to be quick, because it will dissapear in some second. Click on it with the right button and select update driver. Point the wizard to the driver folder, it will install the correct driver automatically.
If it doesn't work with removed battery you can try to power on the phone and turn on developer options in settings or enter meta mode – hold Volume Down and Power buttons. Then connect the phone to PC again.
2. Download and extract Recovery zip and Flash tools. Run Flash Tools, click on DL DA All With Check Sum, load the scatter file located in Recovery folder, uncheck Preloader and hit Download (F6). Remove battery from phone and connect it to PC. When done, a green circle will appear.
3. Enter recovery mode – hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until you see the logo. Make a backup of your current system first. Install new zip.

※Please make a backup of your device before installing or updating ROM

    Can somebody help?

Just got a new phone (manage do drop my old one in a puddle and it died L ). Decided to do everything properly this time so I downloaded “meteos-mtk6589-rom.apk” and used the 2.77Gb option so I can erase the internal storage. I followed the instructions, reboot in to recovery, wiped data/factory reset and dalvik cache and now my SD card is not recognised anymore. I tried everything I could think off. Checked XDA forums but no useful information. Or at least I could not find any. I remembered somebody mentioned this problem in this tread but I could not find it L. Help please.

By the way if I select the 2.5gb version everything works fine but I end up with approx 300mb of wasted space which confuses some of my apps in my old phone.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance

    P

I don't think there are official updates from Lenovo anymore, so don't expect big updates to this one.

I might finish the other AOSP-based rom, but the main goal was KitKat and I might never achieve it.

does anyone know certain way to tell if this phone is fake or real? the one i received from china few days ago looks a bit suspicious. It does look different from my old one. For instance the back under the battery is white instead of black like on my old phone. Also the screen looks a bit different and the hardware buttons at the bottom are not really responsive. Another thing is that the GPS fond signal very quickly this morning but then the navigation was not correct. Lots of times it show me like I am on another road or moving in wrong direction.  Is there a test I can run or certain hardware characteristics which might help me to find out if it is fake?

    Thanks

I would try some hardware info apps, (Antutu maybe), and look for the main Chipset, it should be MTK6589, with graphics subset SGX544. Other than that, if you want, take it appart, and I will show you a picture of the motherboard of my phone (or you can compare with your old one).

    hi alyosa2001

just checked with antutu and it says CPU to be ARM Cortex-A7, model MTK MT6589M and for graphics PowerVR SGX 544MP.

to be honest i dont want to take it apart to check the motherboard in case i have to return it (dont want to give them excuse for voiding the warranty :)  ). can you check the antutu on your phone and confirm for me if not too much of a trouble? thanks in advance

there is something fishy i just cant point my finger in it. on the other hand infrared's rom installed fine and i managed to recover my backup which to me is a sign that hardware is the same… or i am wrong…?

    thanks in advance

You have the exact specs of the original A820. Maybe it is a new batch, or a very good copy, using the same components

Please do let me know how the new sample is, compared to the old one. Better, worse?

Since I've already replaced 3 LCD screens and 2 touchscreens, I could tell you quality and performance varies.

For example the newest touch panel is not very responsice at the bottom where the capacitive buttons are, while the previous one was super-responsive there, more than desired. I could activate them even without touching them, just hovering over.

LCDs have different brightness and backlight. There's some variance in colors as well.

My original ones were the best though. The LCD was a little darker than the new ones at full brightess, but otherwise there was no light bleeding and colors were perfect for my taste. Touchpanel was also perfect in all zones.
