    To edengold2,

you could have a better chance with the Kitkat K8 fimware for the ZOPO ZP998, BUT even though there are very close in the specifications except size, there is no guarantee there are strictely identical in the hardware.

You could do experiment by yourself, BUT you should be sure of what you're doing, you have to hnow the inner structure of a firmware, you have to get a VERY GOOD understing of MTK Droid Tools and the Flash Tools.

Finally, you have to be very rigorious (specially with the boot.img and the recovery files), be patient after flashing and so read VERY CAREFULLY my previous comment/"Tutorial (backing up, etc…) if you still want to try !!!

Use the same Flash Tools supplied with the ZP998.

I don't know if the Star H9800 have a Clock activated with the flip cover, but you could loose it after the operation and maybe some other functions…

Everything could be fine or you may live a nightmare !!!

You have been warned and don't put the blame on me if everything goes wrong.

    Good luck !

    EDIT !

    To edengold2 again,

I was unable to find the correct and precise display specification of your Star H9800 : HD or Full HD ?!?!?!?!

If your device IS NOT full HD, just forget what I said about ZP998 Kitkat firmware and don't even try to flash it !!!!!!!!!!

    @ edengold2

You can't tell for sure if a device and a firmware are totaly compatible with another since you don't have reliable specifications about them, you flash the firmware and didn't test everything… ^^

Mlais mx69 Pro and Mlais mx69 T Pro have 13 Mpx rear and front camera when Star H9800 and Star H9008 have have 13 Mpx rear camera and 5 Mpx front camera !!!

I, myself flashed a ZOPO ZP998 kitkat firmware on my Mlais MX69 Pro and if it mostly works fine, there is a very big problem with the front camera as ZP998 have 14 Mpx rear camera and 5 Mpx front camera.

The rear camera is ok, but the front camera is very noisy with full of small dots in all the pictures… :(

I don't have any Star 9800 or H9008 so I can't tell what would be the result with a 13 Mpx driver with a physical 5 Mpx front camera ?!?!?!

You said you did flash your Star H9008 and it didn't work so well, so you could do a review of what is working fine and what isn't working for the other readers as a feedback. ;)

The working ROMs for the Star H9008:

1.ALL H9008 phones(there are Star, Hero,Tianhe and some people doesnt know its the same phone)

    2.MLAIS MX69T Pro

    3.THL T100S

I havnt flashed the T100S rom yet but if you want to flash it:

flash only the system.img and the boot.img(the boot.img flash from your H9008/MX69T Pro rom) and it should work fine

    Non working so far:

    1.MX69 Pro

2.H9008+ (The rom works but the cameras dont,so I declared this as non working)

Dont forget to MAKE A BACKUP before flashing new roms

You can backup your system using the carliv touch recovery

      @ edengold2,

Be very carefull when you're using some words you don't understand yourself and when you give contradictory/wrong informations, PLEASE !!!!

      When you said :

"The Star H9008 HAS THE SAME SPECS as the MLAIS MX69T Pro

Basically its the phone with another name", this is a wrong assertion as I told you the Star H9008 has a 5 MPx front camera and the MLAIS MX69T Pro has a 13 Mpx front camera, so they don't have the SAME SPECS as they aren't strictly identical !!!

Then you said : "H9008+ (The rom works but the cameras dont,so I declared this as non working)"… ^^

      1) So you confirm what I said previously : H9800, H9008, H9008+ don't have the same front camera as any Mlais MX69XXX devices as they have 13 MPx front camera when Star, Hero have 5 MPx front camera.

      2) Concerning the THL T100S, it has the same rear and front camera as the Mlais, BUT it doesn't support the 900 MHz baseband, so in under certain circonstances and in some places/countries, the users won't be able to use 3G internet connection !!! There should not be a problem with GSM but a big one with 3G !

NONE THL phones have support with the 900 MHz baseband !

      3) So some "small details" can render your device inoperant and useless if you don't flash the correct firmware !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      4) If most Mediatek phones share a common SOC, there are ALWAYS some differences that render then incompatible one another : camera, baseband, bluetooth (v 2, 3 or 4), NFC, Compass, etc…

      5) With the Mediatek devices prices are very good specially with dual-sim phones, but this is a real mess with the devices range and more importantly it's pretty hard to find reliable specifications/informations… :(

If you have a Star H9008, then you could yhen try the Kitkat firmwares for the ZOPO ZP998… ;)

You can check the specs of H9008, It has the same specs as the mlais mx69t pro

      Gotcha and damnit !

As I said I saw in various sources the front camera of the Star H9008 was 5 Mpx and I don't know to which "God" I should believe on… ^^ sigh

If that so, what is your issues with the Mlais MX69 Pro kitkat firmware ???

Could you elaborate what's wrong ?

BTW : your Carliv Touch recovery is not working with my Mlais MX69 Pro as the display just fades

out from pink color to blank when I enter into your touch recovery… :(

I also tried to generate a Carliv Touch recovery with the CTRv2.2 and if the display is fine, it simply backup the Boot.img and recovery.img files. Nothing else… Arghhhh

Sounds like it is not compatible with Kitkat… :(

I guess I'd have to create one manually…

I finally found out how to generate a working english recovery, even though not touch version, using the MTK Droid Tools.

The texts size are very tiny but that will be ok for now…
