   Very good ROM. Using newest flash tool, format, download and then upgrade. Using flash tool advertised had a dram error

   it works. use latest sp flash tool. note: no more mushroom picture (which quite sad). boot up image will be htc. manage to root it wohooo. thanks

   by the way for those who dont, know to capture screenshot, hold power + volume down together and hold for about 1 or 2 second

     first tell us step by step how you do?

     even if crash once you run sp tools to reinstall the firmware should be good as new.

     ok this is how i do

     1. download the driver & STAR S5 – Update 06/01 – Rooted from this page.

     2. google for SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1316.0.150.

     3. install the driver.

     4.after install the driver, unzip STAR S5 – Update 06/01 – Rooted

     6. then unzip SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1316.0.150 and open Flash_tool

     7. once Flash_tool open, click Scatter-loading and find STAR S5 – Update 06/01 – Rooted folder and seach for MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.

     8. switch off your phone, take out the battery, wait for 1 min before putting your battery back. do not switch on your phone.

     9. click Firmware->Upgrade and plug in your phone to the computer.

     10. it will start to upgrade once it detect your phone.

     11. wait for it to finish. when it is finish a big green circle will appear on your computer.

     12. plug out your phone from computer and start the phone.

     13. enjoy.

     I did what you told, reached for the green circle, plugged the usb cable out,

     but the phone won't start!

     I'm totally stucked now. I used Flash_tool 1316.0.150 and the STAR S5 oldest rom here.

     please help.

   the flashing process stoped.

   if i retry. I get the error:

    

   BROM ERROR: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL(4032)

   [EMI] Enable DRAM Faied!

    

    

   what to do now ?

     try to reinstall the driver

     or

     try flashing it without putting in the battery

     or

     you could try flash it with the first rom first

     then follow by the next rom and so on

     some phone need to flash with older rom first

     make sure you got the correct phone

   There is a problem on the 01/06 rooted with power off and then starting, you get a blank screen. To fix this you have to delete shutdown animation in system/media. Perfect otherwise

   I've been using the latest revision 30/7 for few weeks now. It is stable, and my mobile data connection is working fine (did not work consistently in previous builds). My mobile provider is Orange IL.

   The only downside (and it is HW related) is the bad GPS antenna design… which causes interruption in location focus, which makes it hard when navigating during driving. I didn't find any workaround for this, yet.

     What do you mean the latest revision 30/7 ? is it the "STAR S5 – Update 06/01 – Rooted" because that's the latest here? What kind of star s5 do you have? the first design or the new one?

    Hi all! I,m new here…

    I just got the Star S5 Butterfly mtk6589t 1.5 GHz 2gb ram, and i actually like the phone. Had some beginner problems lke no gps, VERY slow wifi and problems with the proximity sensor. I have fixed these problems now, there is a how-to on youtube regarding gps and wifi problems that actually works. The proximity sensor I calibrated by entering engineer-mode/ekstra/Psensor… easypeasy… ;0)

    I wanna ask if these ROM's/upgrades also supports my Star S5, as the cpu is different??? It came with version S5 20130530-103629

    Rooting and Android is new to me, as I had iPhone before, it was jailbroken though…;0)

    So I hope to learn a lot in here too
