X2-CU to X2-AP:
Hi all, I just want to confirm that the instructions to convert a CU phone to AP do work!!, both sims are active, i have verified that i can send receive messages, and send/receive phone calls with both. Cell data works as well. Note however that i had to fiddle with Settings->Mobile Network->Preferred network type, as sim 2 connection was cycling constantly. i first set it to 'GSM only', then after a while, both sims were active (otherwise i would only get Sim 1 signal, or Sim2, but not both). i was then able to set it to 'LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto'. There must still be some kind of interface bug somewhere, because setting shows 'WCDMA/GSM auto' , but the menu shows 'LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto' selected.
I haven't yet been able to confirm that LTE bands are now 1,3,7,20 (and 40,but that's only for India from what I understand, I am in Europe) due to low coverage in my area, but 2G-3G is working as expected.
Overall experience with this 5.0 ROM is very good, phone is quite responsive, battery seems good so far. One strange thing is that Lenovo assumes that everyone wants to have an iphone experience, and removed the app drawer altogether…! I use 360 launcher anyways, so this is not an issue for me.
finally, Settings->Display-> Menu key for task list does not seem to work as intended. it does not do anything at all… But the 'Wide Touch' button allows showing that list, so i can live with that.
Addentum: the recent task list works fine… i was touching the right button, whereas it's the left button…duhhh
Hello ericp2,
I follow the procedure enlisted here but to confirmed that my SIM card were unable to establish a good connection (current location is in US *El Paso/Juarez Mexico). I can choose GSM connection only but the signal is still poor ; like 1 bar of signal only, no LTE or 3G connection. Do you need to flash something else for the connection of SIM card to be stable? Can't make this work properly (even though creating a back-up of my NVRAM using TWRP, and restoring it)
Hi! will it work on the version of CU and will active both SIM cards?
Yes, but you have to backup of your NVRAM partition first before you flash the ROM to your phone. Then restore it after installation. Otherwise, you may lose both IMEI's or one of them.
Please follow the detailed steps posted earlier on how to do it
First of all Many Many thanks for the Rom Legend eryen . I want to to revert back to 4.4.2 as my Vibe X2-AP has lots of bugs after upgrading to lollipop. I wanted to know that Should I need to backup nvram via TWRP(Even I dont know what is TWRP) or any other preruquistics other than the above flashing Instructions? Please reply me, and I am new to all this, so please don't mind my stupid question.
My Device is Lenovo Vibe X2-AP(INDIA), Not rooted. Just 20 days old. Will this flashing Void my warranty?
@dipenpatra
I think you may try to install the AP Lollipop ROM again before thinking of going back to 4.4.2. I think the bugs will disappear. I'm not facing any problems with Lollipop so far since I'va installed it over than a week ago.
In case you've made a decision, you can revert back to the Official ROM Lenovo X2-AP Version: X2-AP_ROW_S130_150412 (KitKat 4.4.2) found in eryen's post here:
https://www.needrom.com/downlo.....ovo-vibe-x2-ap/
You don't need to backup and restore your NVRAM partition since you are moving from AP to AP. But remember NOT TO SELECT FORMAT when flashing the ROM.
About voiding your warranty, I'm not sure about warranty terms in your country. However, in my country, this voids the warranty. You can make ask your retailer about that.
@Dhyef
Hi, please refer to xda vibe x2 : http://forum.xda-developers.co.....t2897967/page27 post by t3ntacle. there are 2 more files that need to be recovered from CU rom. for me, since i had already installed the new rom, i had to recover them from one the the CU roms in this site.
i took the 1520 rom, but after checking, all other CU /system/etc/firmware contents are exactly the same in the 1514 and 1511). What you need to do:
1. you absolutely need to have root installed on your device . (possibly using TWRP file explorer you can also do this).
2. download CU rom if you don't have one.
3. get Ext4unpacker.exe utility .
4. open system.img from ROM with Ext4unpacker, and extract the whole system/etc/firmware folder on your PC.
5. copy ONLY the 2 following files: modem_1_lwg_n.img, and catcher_filter_1_lwg_n.bin onto your device.
6. backup existing corresponding files from your device, in /system/etc/firmware folder using any root explorer (i use es file explorer, it's very good) as a precaution.
7. copy the 2 files recovered from CU rom at that location (that's why you need a root explorer)
8. make absolutely sure you change the access rights to the files, or it just won't work.. 0644 ie, rw for owner, r for group and others.
9. reboot your device.
when this is done, you may need to change the settings -> mobile networks, for preferred networks. and since you are in the U.S., it is most certainly different from me (Europe), set what make sense for you (GSM only, 4g-3g-2g, etc etc). Since i have done that, both Sim cards work fine, in 2g and 3g, even after reboots. for the moment, i have not managed to get anything for LTE working, but i am searching how to do this by comparing files., i believe all is related to this firmware directory. There is also a russian site which provides patches for this AP S223 ROM , but you need to be registered for file download and my Russian is nil…. Hopefully more on this soon. Hope this helps!
final edit: i was able to confirm that LTE works as expected!. so conversion from CU to AP lollipop works great, and is well worth it in my opinion! there must be a bug in MTK engineering ap to show LTE data correctly.
guys, can u unzip X2-AP_ROW_S223 without any errors ? i cant do it.
