Has anyone in Europe tried the gps and wifi at all? How fast does it lock satelites on its own (no EPO downloading data)? Gps is VERY important to me, so any info about this rom would be very helpful

I'm running the latest 07/25/2013 ROM, and my GPS sucks (I'm in France).  I constantly get "Searching for GPS".  GPS is also really important to me, and I'm starting to think that for those of us requiring a useable GPS, we should've looked elsewhere for a phone with better hardware.  I'll try this (older) ROM later today and see how it goes with GPS and let you know…

With this ROM, the lock on the satelites take about 2 mins from a cold start which is better than the original ROM which took about 10 minutes if I was lucky.  The thing that sucks is that the device can't hold the and it keeps dropping in and out. I'll drive for 10 minutes with it locked and all of a sudden it'll drop and start searching for 15 minutes and then lock again for 10 minutes.  It's a cycle.  I'm pretty sure it's the hardware.  By the way, I'm in North America and the experience of the cycling was done on a clear sunny sky (not a cloud in the sky) and I was in the suburbs with no tall buildings.  As for Europe, not sure but I think you'll get a quick lock but drops as well.

How's the GPS and wifi issues with this rom? How fast does gps locks the satellites (on its own, without any extra apps) and how far does the wifi receive a signal?

ALso, is this a patch or an actual rom?

It's an actual ROM.  I've just installed it, and to be honest it's not doing me any good, over my previous ROM (which was actually a newer version, 25/07/13).   I'm still getting the "Searching for GPS" problem which has plagued me since purchasing this phone, which I'd had such high hopes for.  My network carrier signal sometimes completely drops out, and H/H+ data connections are sketchy to non-existent (the best I can hope for is Edge).  I don't know if others are experiencing similar issues in Europe, but it's totally put me off the phone and I'm contemplating selling it and waiting until the new batch of MT6592 octo-cores with dedicated GPS chips (rather than a half-assed onboard attempt) to arrive early next year.  My old iphone 4 is still so much more reliable than this UMI junk.
