For full kernel changelog, visit my github repo: https://github.com/infraredbg/Lenovo_A820_kernel_kk
GPU overclock (works on some A820):
Currently it is only supported via init.d script
Go to /system/etc/init.d and open 00proton with a text editor
Uncomment and change desired value (all values are explained in the script)
Save and make sure the file has correct permissions
Reboot device
You can verify if the GPU frequency have changed in /proc/gpufreq/gpufreq_var_dump
Installation:
If you're currently using one of my DEV roms, it is recommended to do a clean install
It is recommended to use my TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery (install via Rashr from PlayStore on phone or from FlashTools on PC)
Copy zip on sdcard and optional GApps package and reboot to recovery
Do a full backup of your current ROM including nvram block (IMPORTANT)
Wipe system, data and cache from TWRP. The script does not do automatic format.
Install ROM zip and GApps (optional)
Reboot system (first boot takes time)

Hi,
Do anyone know how to solve the following issues which I am newly experienced to use Proton KK rom.
1) How to increase the sound level during phone call ? It is hard to me for hearing outdoor. It seems weaker than stock rom S138.
2) How to set the brightness of screen during using camera.
3) Is it possible make the font bigger in the pull down short cut manual ?
Thanks !
It's need setup a patch for Engineer mode to increase sound level. You can find the link to the patch in this thread
Another problem is auto brightness function.
It seems adjusting too frequent. And it cause likes flicking . (Dim–> Bright-> Dim –> Bright –> Bright –> Dim –> Dim ………………… )
Can you use the same lux detection algorithm as S150 Stock ROM ? I just used S138 Stock ROM without such problem
Will it fix in the coming A820-PROTON.KK.V1.0.3 too ?
Thanks
hi
Do i need to flash all zip files above or only the zip with 193mb??
im new to this stuff.. but i have flashed different roms before
hansaka read the guid the 193mb zip is just the base rom which does not include the other files
https://www.needrom.com/wp-con.....store_guide.pdf
alright thanks
i have flashed the 193mb zip..it worked perfectly except sim cards.. if i flashed all of them do u think it will fix the problem (( FYI im not very good at english))
Hi infrared, I have bought another phone so I stopped messing about with my old A820. however I have factory reset it and inserted an old sim card which I did not remember the password, so I have tried it over 3 times and it says the SIM slot1 is permanently locked (slot 2 works fine)
Now I changed sim, enterred the correct password but as soon as I unlock it, the phone says again the sim slot is still locked (for ever)
I have then decided to reinstall the rom from scracth, wiped cache, system, blablabla.
But the rom zip refuses to install via TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery. it starts then the teamwin logo comes up and the installation is stopped.
I have done this 1 milion times, but now I'm using a quite dodge sd card. do you think I should try another sd card or you can already see something I'm doing wrong?
I have also tried and old backup I had but the recovery can't even see the files. But it can see the folders
Thanks a lot.
D.
Sorry for bothering you. Placing the files in the internal storage worked. I supose I'll have to bin this faulty sd card.
I also changed the sim and it is all good now. the rom as we know is robust and fantastic
by the way, I got the new zte axon mini, from march 2016, rooted, xposed and yesterday someone finally made a custom recovery…..I wished so much a guy like infrared could make an aosp rom for it. The phone is sooooo good and the os is crap.
Thanks
Hi infrared, I have a problem with latest kernels (2.54-2.55) – the phone does not want to charge from PC usb port, it shows that it is charging but charge level remains the same. This problem reproduced on different PC's, usb cables and on several A820's. Charging from wall adapter always works.
Uff, again a problem with other devices, when it works on mine.
I don't know how to test it. I've tested mine with different cables, different USB ports and different PCs.
Yeah, this is probably impossible to test… I forgot to mention this on my prev post but if I reboot the phone – it will charge from usb after reboot. But anyway, if there is no easy fix for this problem then just ignore it, you did a lot for our phones already. Thanks for all the hard work
Go to developer options and set "Stay awake" or change screen timeout interval to something greater, like 30 min.
Reboot the phone and based on your comment it should work. Now disconenct it (you keep the screen on all the time) and connect it again, does it still continue to charge?
btw, I'm using my 4.4.4 rom, so I will have to test with the old version.
When will 4.4.4rom be realised?I have been waiting for it for a long time.
I've reported previusoly, but there's some problems with HTML5 canvas and some videos (e.g. auto-play video in Facebook) which I haven't been able to solve yet.
infrared,
I followed your instructions and yes, it will charge just fine if I connect/disconnect the charger while screen is on, but after several hours of usage – it will not charge again (I measured it with one of those 'charge doctor' amp/voltmeter , and while the phone shows that it is charging, it doesn't draw any current at all)
I can't reproduce it though :/
How much current it draws from usb when it is working?
"Measure" it with apps.
Also please test if there's some relation with battery percentage, e.g. if it charges at 80%+ and does not at 20%.
Current should be bigger when battery is discharged and much lower when close to 100%.
Maybe some protection is kicking in on your phone.
