For full kernel changelog, visit my github repo: https://github.com/infraredbg/Lenovo_A820_kernel_kk
GPU overclock (works on some A820):
Currently it is only supported via init.d script
Go to /system/etc/init.d and open 00proton with a text editor
Uncomment and change desired value (all values are explained in the script)
Save and make sure the file has correct permissions
Reboot device
You can verify if the GPU frequency have changed in /proc/gpufreq/gpufreq_var_dump
Installation:
If you're currently using one of my DEV roms, it is recommended to do a clean install
It is recommended to use my TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery (install via Rashr from PlayStore on phone or from FlashTools on PC)
Copy zip on sdcard and optional GApps package and reboot to recovery
Do a full backup of your current ROM including nvram block (IMPORTANT)
Wipe system, data and cache from TWRP. The script does not do automatic format.
Install ROM zip and GApps (optional)
Reboot system (first boot takes time)

Does anyone know free and reliable file hosting with direct link download?
devhost was ok before, but the trick does not work anymore. All hosting services use download page which require to actually open the site,
while I need direct link to download the update zip from the OTA app.
Dropbox is not an option, because they will suspend my links again due to hight trafiic.
Copy.com seems to work. Rolled out the update.
There isn't any notice on device that the update has been done but must be succesful cause changed the signal bar colur to TeliaSonera's purple with no crash. Was this the only patch for the device?
Found it! OTA updater app instead of the function at About phone/System updates.
I can´t find that needed KK-upgrade (lenovo_a820_kk_upgrade), is it here on needrom? Links on that install guide PDF don´t work?
Dear,
You can’t find, cause there isn’t yet any update for Proton-kk!
…..except a patch thru OTA.
The upgrade package can be downloaded from google drive: https://drive.google.com/folde.....sp=sharing#list
I will ficx the links in the pdf, seem to be lost in the convertion process.
Thanks for that link, it helps a lot!!
Tomorrow I'm gonna try to breathe new life for my wife's A820. Shame that lower part of the touch screen doesn't occasionally work, otherwise it's been very good budget phone with Lambda rom. Yesterday I started to investigate repartitioning because of low system space, but decided to go with this new version because everyone seems to be happy with it.
I may have to donate if I get proton working all right. Have been using Lambda for a long time…
BTW, if I understood correctly, next version is going to have finnish language which would be nice to have. Is it going to be ota-update?

the only thing i am missing from the stock rom is the record button on the call screen that was very useful
You can still record, but you need to tap on menu capacitive button during a call.
its was much better from the call screen it stops recording automatically when you finish the call
Call Recorder from Play store and forget about manually turning rec on /off.
Indeed great rom, You make fantastic job!
The only problem is with getting files to follow your guide – i need to get essential files from the other source.
artek that will auto record all calls thats a bit too much ,the stock rom had the best way to record
Hey, I tried installing this ROM, but it is stuck at booting. The proton logo si flashing, ocasionally the lenovo logo appears, but that's it. Any ideas?
There might be variety of reasons:
- you didn't do wipes from recovery
- you have old recovery
- your download is broken
etc.
My stock recovery was your 2.8 v1.1 TWRP, and with that it was in bootloop. Then installed the new version, didn't even want to ener recovery. With CWM it was as I described above. Tried every repartition method, none helped. I was on MIUI V6 with Petro's repartition. I have no clue what is wrong.
Petro's repartition should work no problem.
But you have to do wipe data, system and cache prior to installation, because the script does not do it automatically.
Otherwise you install as "update" over MIUI and that's never gonna work.
If you do repartition from my "tool", follow the procedure described in the pdf (section 3).
Well that's how I did it. I will restore a backup of MIUI, reinstall TWRP and try again. No clue why the new version is not working though.
I managed to install the new TWRP with Flashify, got everything to work. Thank you for your help infrared and for making KitKat possible.
