DESCRIPTION
This is a custom KitKat rom for Lenovo A820 compiled from source.
It took me a lot of time to get it to this stage, so if you're porting to another device or do some mods, please have respect and give proper credits to original author.

Added patch for WPA2 vulnerability. Install from recovery, then wipe cache and dalvik. Reboot.

ART is not working, so it is disabled. Could not solve this problem.

GPU overclock (works on some A820):
Currently it is only supported via init.d script
Go to /system/etc/init.d and open 00proton with a text editor
Uncomment and change desired value (all values are explained in the script)
Save and make sure the file has correct permissions
Reboot device
You can verify if the GPU frequency have changed in /proc/gpufreq/gpufreq_var_dump
Installation:
If you're currently using one of my DEV roms, it is recommended to do a clean install
It is recommended to use my TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery (install via Rashr from PlayStore on phone or from FlashTools on PC)
Copy zip on sdcard and optional GApps package and reboot to recovery
Do a full backup of your current ROM including nvram block (IMPORTANT)
Wipe system, data and cache from TWRP. The script does not do automatic format.
Install ROM zip and GApps (optional)
Reboot system (first boot takes time)

Check your wifi mac address, is it changing after reboot or empty? You need to fix it before use wifi networks with mac address filtering. NVRAM rescue according to Infrared's guide or search how to fix wifi mac address via mtk engineering mode.
i have problem with mounting storage in ms windows. sdcard isn’t visible in rootexplorer
TRemove this card and mount it in a card reader – is it working then?

I got a problem with calling and texting, phone has full phone range but i can`t call and receive sms, after reboot works ok for a day and it happend again, other problem is MMS i have one SIM for Internet and one for texting and calling, and when i want to receive or send mms from second SIM i have to swich data transmision to this SIM is it possibe to make it automaticly?

Just tried and it works. I use 4.4.4 DEV rom though, have no time to try on the 4.4.2.
I have a problem with the latest rom when someone calls me I do not have icons answer, reject.
But if you touch the visible icon answer/reject icons appear.
That is standard behavior of pure KK AOSP roms, I think.
Judjung from the black rectangle, tou're also using GravityBox, but that should not change the behaviour. It is the same on my phone (except the photo is full-screen, because I don't use GB).

Guys, I haven't worked on the project for more than one month. Will probably push some more updates, but there's a chance I will move to Xiaomi Note 2 soon. The current state of the ROM suits my needs perfectly, but I understand some people use it differently and might encounter some problems.
It is just taking so much time to develop this, plus my motherboard died last month and killed the cpu as well. So this project actually cost me a lot of money. Maybe someone will continue the work, but it seems that many people already changed the phone to something else.
For example I had about 10 000 unique users of Lambda (according to OTA update site) vs 374 for the new ROM. You can see the difference yourself.
I really wanted to work on Lolipop/CM12.1 for this device, but knowing how much time it took me to boot KitKat and then optimize everything, it would mean I will need at least half a year and the success is not guaranteed in any way. There's no public LP source for MT6589.
At least I'm glad that didn't give up and managed to make KitKat possible for our device (and A830). Many other phones even with better specs will never see KK.
To people still having problems. I will prepare a new version of the kernel soon with proximity sensor calibration taken from stock S150 kernel, which should solve the issue some people have, but please understand I could probably never fix everything in the ROM. I'm just a noob that does it in his free time, while big manufacturers have big teams with developers, QAs, etc. And it still take them a lot of time to release new ROMs.
For lenovo a859 we don't have a stable rom yet
there is nothing wrong with this ROM on my phone that is worth it mentioning. Everything works better than before, I mean, EVERYTHING. The most noticeable improvements to me are: Browser (simply does not crash anymore, never), GPS fix is so quick, setting app is miles better, mobile network works straight way after having left wifi all night on (this was starting to bother me before) apps ops (xposed) is amazing, phone seems faster and with same or better battry life (well over 1.5 days with good usage)….
There is one anoying bit though: maps speaks american english (sorry I can't stand the lady saying "quarer-mile" every 30 seconds) no matter what I do. System is English UK, google tts female UK, google settings UK….but maps does american english.

You can change build.prop and set ro.product.locale.region to UK, instead of US. Maybe it will fix this issue for you.
You can use some build.prop editor from playstore or edit directly the text file.
I really wanted to replace the phone because Miui 6 was working so badly, but with this Rom, I don't want that so badly anymore, the phone is working at it's best and the only things that I hate about it are the poor camera, no front camera, and the very bad speaker.
