For full kernel changelog, visit my github repo: https://github.com/infraredbg/Lenovo_A820_kernel_kk

GPU overclock (works on some A820):

Currently it is only supported via init.d script
Go to /system/etc/init.d and open 00proton with a text editor
Uncomment and change desired value (all values are explained in the script)
Save and make sure the file has correct permissions
Reboot device
You can verify if the GPU frequency have changed in /proc/gpufreq/gpufreq_var_dump

Installation:

If you're currently using one of my DEV roms, it is recommended to do a clean install

It is recommended to use my TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery (install via Rashr from PlayStore on phone or from FlashTools on PC)
Copy zip on sdcard and optional GApps package and reboot to recovery
Do a full backup of your current ROM including nvram block (IMPORTANT)
Wipe system, data and cache from TWRP. The script does not do automatic format.
Install ROM zip and GApps (optional)
Reboot system (first boot takes time)

I also have redmi note 2, smartphone is awesome, but there is one annoying thing, namely scratchy speaker http://forum.xda-developers.co.....-error-t3198425

Infrared, do you have this problem?

I don't have the phone yet.

Also I have to finish some things for A820 first, then I will try to compile AOSP 5.1 for the Note 2.

Hi Infrared, would you be able to recommend some parametres for the init.d/00proton file that would for sure improve the performance of the phone (not that I need though). Can I just test any of those values described in the file itself? or I'd take the risk of a bootloop or even a phone explosion?!

do you over/under clock your GPU or you are currently using the default values?

    Thanks

    D.

You can try all, just read the description.

Usually you don't need to touch the voltage. Mine works at maximum freq with minimum voltage.

Even at highest voltage, there should be no problem, but as always you do it on your own responsibility.

Bootloop is impossible. If the value is not recognized/valid, the default value is used.

I usually run my GPU overclocked at maximum freq.

    Hi infrared,

not in this world I managed to save the edited 00proton file. I tried editing and saving, copying to the sd card edit and save and overide the original (using es explorer) with no sucess. It seems the file is being used and the app gets stuk and fail to copy it.

    then via recovery….still no success.

I mught be a stupid question, but how do I do it?

    Thanks

have you mounted system as r/w?

From ES side menu tap on Root Explorer, then Mount R/W, select / and /system, then tap OK.

The root explorer is alsways been turned on, then (from your suggestion) when I tap on it (on the word and not on the switch) nothing happens? It used to work as I have changed many system files, mainly in the lambda rom though.

I just cleared es explorer data now and it worked, cheers once again.

Is there any way I can actually measure or check if there was any improvement compared to the default values?

    Hello.

How to change permissions for file /system/etc/init.d/00proton ?

I used ghost commander in root mode , but the file isn't editable and have read only atribut.

    Regards

HI anyone had issues with the power button not working, having to wait till the screen locks, then reboot the phone and the power button works ok, I think it something to do with turning data or wifi off.
