DESCRIPTION
This is a custom KitKat rom for Lenovo A820 compiled from source.
It took me a lot of time to get it to this stage, so if you're porting to another device or do some mods, please have respect and give proper credits to original author.

Added patch for WPA2 vulnerability. Install from recovery, then wipe cache and dalvik. Reboot.

ART is not working, so it is disabled. Could not solve this problem.

GPU overclock (works on some A820):
Currently it is only supported via init.d script
Go to /system/etc/init.d and open 00proton with a text editor
Uncomment and change desired value (all values are explained in the script)
Save and make sure the file has correct permissions
Reboot device
You can verify if the GPU frequency have changed in /proc/gpufreq/gpufreq_var_dump
Installation:
If you're currently using one of my DEV roms, it is recommended to do a clean install
It is recommended to use my TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery (install via Rashr from PlayStore on phone or from FlashTools on PC)
Copy zip on sdcard and optional GApps package and reboot to recovery
Do a full backup of your current ROM including nvram block (IMPORTANT)
Wipe system, data and cache from TWRP. The script does not do automatic format.
Install ROM zip and GApps (optional)
Reboot system (first boot takes time)

Anyone have OK Google detection options like on another 4.4.2 device?
Mine still looks like in old JB rom (Google app and services updated):
Maybe some lib is missing, since I stripped the gapps package.
You can try to install a full gapps package (do a full backup first) and see if that fixes it.

thank you for your incredible work to create this amaizing ROM. I think this is the best ROM that I have ever tried on lenovo a820.
I think that also for this version is useful to create a google drive document where report BUGs, as the prevoius one.
Since for the moment the latter is not available, I want to report here the following problems I faced:
-improper functioning of some root app (e.g. Titanium Backup). I fixed this problem changing SuperSu with SuperUser (e.g. http://www.androiddevs.net/201.....ix-kitkat-roms/);
-speakerphone doesn't work during calls;
-sometimes the alarm clock is not working when the phone is power off (with your prevoius ROM, but also with others that I have tried, it always work also when the phone is power off). When the alarm doesn't work and I switch on the phone, the message 'alarm ignored' appears on the notifications area.
Anyway I recommend everyone to use this ROM, my personal vote is still 5 stars!

Remembering huge effort Infra made with Lambda updates ad KK implementation I think it is impossible to make more for this phone. First of all Infra got stable rom and cannot reproduce our "bugs". As I see discussion about A820 die in all internet. Several users left on A820, maybe we can help each other here or search for help on android forums (as part of our "bugs" are regular android issues).
I can't reproduce your alarm problem. However, if you have notification about it – thing seems resolveable. You may examine source of notification, eg. installing Voice Notify that'll tell you which app ignores the alarm. I assume you have cleany installed rom just maybe some app kills an alarm.
I don't use Titanium backup but no problems noticed with SuperSu. It worked in Lambda it works here. I would be careful changing to another superuser manager hearing about strange battle supersu vs. kinguser and suspicious what such application can do in background.
What do you mean "speakerphone doesn't work during call" – rear/earpiece (normal/loudspeaker mode)? You dont hear at all/sound distorted/too quiet? Mine is way to quiet but only during a call in loudspeaker mode. Generally sound quality in call modes (normal, loudspeaker, headset) is slightly different like in Lambda was (gear the same). I can hear voice embossed in higher frequencies, it's maybe good to better understand the caller, strange-wife sounds different

The issue with TitaniumBackup is that you need to uncheck "Namespace separation" from SuperSu settings.
After restart, everything will work like expected.
About the other one, you need to be more specific.
There will be some more updates for this phone, but I will move to Xiaomi Note 2 soon.
Will see if I will like it. My main concern is the size, although it is better than A820 in (almost) every aspect. At least on paper.
I still like my A820 though. It has stronger antennas compared to many other devices. With this KK rom GPS had never been better. I haven't seen other MT6589 do so well. I even get lock inside my home – well, it's not fast as outside and signal is way lower, but that's normal..and in fact still great for this chipset. I also like the back cover with its rubber coating – very stable in the hand, does not slip and the soft touch is also nice.
I will keep it, but don't expect frequent updates. 4.4.4 ROM (in the works) will probably be the last one I do for this device.

I completely agree with you. Now, Lenovo A820 start to be obsolete, but I still like it. I'm mindful of huge effort of Infra to create this ROM.
I also think that this ROM is very stable (app never crash), suitable for use of every day and it is the best I've ever tried.
I wrote my bugs to know if I'm the only one that I had or if other persons have my same issues.
I do not expect that infrared solve my problem, but share this information can be useful for all users.
I have installed Voice Notify, I will try to understand if there is any app that kills the alarm process (ehehehehe, even if it means being late at work
)…
I tried to wipe davilk cache, cache and data. Then reinstall the ROM to see if some problems disappear.
Unfortunately, even redoing a clean installation my speakerphone does not work properly during call. In particular they are too quiet but only during a call in loudspeaker mode.
I also tried to set volumes in engineering mode, but with no effect.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

The same. I mean back loudspeaker, earpiece is acceptable for me. I add that I tried to set volumes for different modes: normal, loudspeaker, headset, different sources: audio, ring, fmradio – no effect in engineering mode. Maybe engineermode apk is broken or unsuitable for this phone model?
Tried the loudspeaker – no problem with volume, except the voice is kind of strange.
Vol + and – work while on loudspeaker. Dunno, maybe it got fixed with the 4.4.4 ROM I'm using.

I wiped system, data, cache, dalvik cache and internal sd, repart with repartion tool and install A820-PROTON.KK_.V1.0.2_OTA and Proton-GApps-Mini-4.4.x-20150716
i wiped everything befour and after repartitioning
A820-PROTON.KK_.V1.0.2_OTA is only small update, not full rom!
Infrared, you wrote that you intend to buy Xiaomi Note 2, did you mean on Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 or you mean on some other model.

I updated A820 to Jiayu S3 and I'm quite happy with it. It seems that Redmi Note2 has imilar specs. Infrared, what makes Redmi Note2 so special you decided to buy it? Just noticed it's got an IR emitter. That would be cool!
I think it is the C/P of this phone. It is made by Xiaomi, its quality is not that bad compare to other niche manufactor. And have most all the sensor, Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass. GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou. but the main reason is Helio X10, you can not buy any mobile phone with this low price with this powerful SoC.
